    Mean Girls.

I am embarrassed to say that it was my first time seeing it. I liked it. Didn't LOVE it though. Guess I expected more from Tina Fey....

Delicatessen, a French cult movie from 1991, by the guys who made Amelie. Too fucked-up for me, couldn't really follow it.

i love that film! it's so trippy and insane. another favourite is 'la cité des enfants perdus', also by the same guys.
they are visually stunning, beautiful cinematography. (darius knondji, who also worked on se7enl and the remake of 'funny games').

    The Life of Brian

Thoughtful, and exacting tale of the last days of Christ.....not unlike Mels version
I'm using a lot of oxygen and such — I think it's good use of oxygen myself, but of course, I'm a little prejudiced on the matter.

Blech, I hated Delicatessen and City of the lost children.. i also hated his stupid "Alien Resurrection" movie. The only good film that guy ever put out was Amelie.

Mel's pales in comparison. The Life of Brian is far more true to life.

i hated alien resurrection too (though visually it was quite pretty) but how can you hate delicatessen and city of lost children.
    *slap again*
    agree that amelie is great.
but still, that's 3 great movies, not 1.

I can hate them because they're badly directed and boring as shit, on top of unintentionally corny.

The art direction is great, I just *hate* his direction. It's quirky for the sake of it, and the wide angle lens shit is just so tiresome. It combines to make a wonky, boring mess of a movie.
