    The Sweet Hereafter

Right after watching it I hated it. Then I thought about it a little and I loved it for all the thinking it forced me to do and for being so different. But I had missed the beginning and the incest (as I found out from imdb) which really adds a whole new dimension to things... Hmmm. I think I liked it overall but I'm pretty sure 99% of my friends would hate it.

    ETA:
Plein Soleil, the French adaptation of Highsmith's Mr Ripley. Disappointing, couldn't follow it carefully enough, and full of late 50s French mannerisms.
LaFolie, I just remember Alain Delon being so explosively hot in this I don't think I noticed anything else...

^Sarah Polley completely blew me away. That girl could do more with her eyes, with just one look that other actresses would do in a whole movie. Haven't read the book, I'm sure it would clear some things up. It was a beautifully made movie but then again I'm something of an Atom Egoyan fan, I loved Exotica too.

i had something of a familiar reaction. i didn't hate it. but it definitely upset me. it's one of those films that really challenges the viewer. you go through so many different emotions, from sadness to anger to tenderness. you definitely don't walk away from the movie happy but then the more you think about it, the more you realise how well written and complex it is and how the acting and directing are just brilliant.

The Wrestler and Milk. The Wrestler is like Leaving Las Vegas....not a bright spot in the damn thing. Milk, dragged a bit, but Sean Penn is amazing.

i watched together (tillsammans) last night. it's a swedish movie, set in a stockholm commune in the 70s...a comedy-drama type thing. i actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

today we went to go see Anvil!, which was a fabulous documentary. i absolutely loved it. it had metal, frustration, hope...it was so heartwarming to watch a band that was so in love with the art of making music. i left the theater feeling so happy.

The Tracey Fragments with Ellen Page. Its shot very strangely and difficult to get into, but very interesting nonetheless.

I really want to watch "Anvil"... I heard it's like a modern-day, real-life 'Spinal Tap' deal, right?

Death Sentence - with Kevin Bacon and Kelly Preston. Pretty good script but really bad acting, no I mean really bad acting.

Cria Cuervos. Such a moving and great acting by Ana Torrent and Geraldine Chaplin.
