have you ever seen so many hot men grouped in one movie? Oh yeah the Lord of the Rings movies... OK it's been a long time since we've had that many good looking guys in one movie.

    Star Trek.

I'm a trekkie and TOS is my fave of the series so I was tough to please. I expected to hate it but I rather liked the movie though it didn't exactly rock my world.

I hated the look of the bridge, all that white, whoever described it as a "apple computer having puked on it" was surprisingly correct, the Sarek guy was ugly, the Pike guy was too old and Jim's parents looked too young to have another son already so I'm guessing Samuel Kirk doesn't exist in this reality. I didn't like most of the Uhura bits either, they overdid it with her character.

In short, it's ok but it's not really Trek.

I'm torn about Star Trek as well. It felt like 90210 in space with a massive case of ADD. There was never a moment to contemplate anything, it was basically an action movie.. you felt bludgeoned by the end... it just was GO GO GO OH SHIT LOOKIT THAT AWESOME SHIT WOOO OTHER SHIT LOOK OUT WHEE!

Remember when Star Trek was dignified, stately and had an air of grandeur about it? Yeah, not so much anymore. Just all whizbang effects for the Myspace crowd who have the attention spans of goldfish.

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

This is exactly why I don't want to see it. I'm not really a Trekkie, but I loved TNG and like the original alright. Though I'm sure my boys will whinge until I take them...

The boy and I watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 last night... it's so funny and we hadn't watched it since it came out when he was a toddler. I love Pixar...

She was way better in it than Nicole Kidman, imo.
My favorite movie, even got the soundtrack. The adaptation from the book doesnt always translate well from the movie or just the bad choice of actresses. Even though it tanked at the box office, it's just one of those movies that has somthing about it.

Saw Star Trek. Can't say enough good about it and I'm an avid original Trek fan. Took my kid and her friends and they knew nothing of the series and loved it as well. Zachary Quinto dead on as Spock.

Checked out Resident Evil: Extinction. It was okay, nothing great.

Hopefully, I'll get to check out Star Trek this week. Still haven't seen Wolverine yet, but Star Trek looks better.

I saw Star Trek on opening night and LOVED it. Granted, I see very few movies these days so pretty much anything seems awesome to me.

I'm taking my 82-year-old mother to see it on the weekend. She's been a huge Trek fan ever since the original series and through TNG and all the other spin-offs so that'll be the real test. She didn't like the any of the series after TNG because they were "too violent", according to her and my dad, with too much shooting and stuff, hahahahaha.

^^Yeah, probably. She's extremely hard to please so she'll probably hate it. But it has hot young guys in it so that might be enough for her.
