    Evolution

2001 sci-fi comedy with David Duchovny lampooning his Fox Mulder schtick and Julianne Moore being gorgeous while I wondered what she was doing in such a craptastic movie. Had some funny moments though.

    Prozac Nation.
Christina Ricci managed to make the character even more insufferable than the author is in the book. In other words she did a great job of portraying Elizabeth Wurtzel.

Hairspray. I can't believe my Efron-loving friend managed to cajole me into watching it. Though it was quite fun.

    - Yes Man. It was okay. Certainly not Jim Carrey's best.

    - The Day the Earth Stood Still. Not all that good. Keanu was really boring. I will say it was worth watching once.

    - Ben Stiller's Bed Time Story. - I didn't really care for it.

It's not as good as the Ricki Lake original, but it's still fun. I liked Queen Latifah as Maybelle.

That movie is so funny, I never knew if it was supposed to be a comedy or what.
i think it's supposed to be a very dark comedy/commentary on the state of today's (well, 1986's) youth.
that or we just have a sick sense of humour.
the way crispin glover says everything in that movie is hilarious. but yeah, the 'i poked it with a stick' bit is especially funny.

watched 'deliverance' and 'breakfast at tiffanys' yesterday night.

Took the boys to see The Fast and the Furious 4, they are absolutely in love with this franchise. I think it was pretty good in comparison to 2 and 3 (3 sucked ASS). Its dumb and high-octane, and which is pretty much what I expected. The best action and stunts of the 4, but the story is weak.

I just watched Slingblade this morning. It's brilliant. BillyBob Thornton did an amazing job of writing & acting.

Semi-Pro with Will Farrell and Woody Harrelson. Not laugh out loud funny, but still pretty good. I liked how Patti Labelle appears as Will's mother and there's no explanation given on how she's his mother.

The Net with Sandra Bullock. Never saw the movie before. Decent story. Kept my interest.

Watched quite a few things lately.

Changeling - it was better than expected. I really wanted them to do justice to a great story, and they did for the most part. Kind of odd that they kept out some important parts, like Northcott's mother, but I guess it wasn't relevant since the film was mainly more about Christine Collins and her son. I do think that Angelina did well in the part, I'll give her her due. But I also think that it could have easily been played by several great actresses, which I think might have fight the time period better.

Seven Pounds - predictable. Will Smith was really great in the part and Rosario was gorgeous per usual, and it wasn't a terrible movie. It was good for one viewing, probably wouldn't see it again though.

Slumdog Millionaire - truth be told, I was disappointed. I guess my expectations were just too high. It wasn't a bad movie by far, but in my opinion, I'm floored that it won Best Picture. It was a good movie, but not captivating. It can't even compare to Cidade de Deus (a flim about the slums of Rio de Janeiro instead of India) and yet Cidade de Deus didn't even leave a mark at the Academy Awards, besides a Best Director nod. It just goes to show you what a farce the Academy Awards are anyway. I would have enjoyed it if it hadn't have captured any awards, but since it did I was expecting so much MORE. Talk about overhyped.

Marley & Me - eh, it was okay. I did get teary at the end, but I wasn't relegated to a sobbing mess. Good chemistry between Aniston and Wilson but thats about it. It wasn't funny enough to be a comedy, which was how it was promoted here, so that was disappointing. My husband was bored.

She's The Man. Same friend cajoled me, honest! Though I actually laughed quite a few times. Not a great movie by any means, but light-hearted and silly enough to be enjoyable. Didn't take itself too seriously, which was its saving grace.

^I thought Amanda did a good job in that. It made me laugh, and I totally wasn't expecting it. I went with a 'This is going to be so cheesy, kill me now' attitude.

Yeah, it surprised me too. It made me laugh quite a lot more than expected, and though of course it was predictable it managed to be predictable in style
