    Jacobs Ladder.

    Whoa.

I saw it when it came out in the theatre. I was high at the time and it freaked me out so bad! But I realized last night that I really hadn't understood it at the time; now I can't stop thinking about it.

    Jacob's Ladder is ridonkulously awesome

I watched "The Last Starfighter" last night with the roomate during dinner.. it's a tradition cuz he works weird hours. When we can sit down to a meal, we watch some shitty 80's movie. Last time it was "The Golden Child" and before that "Adventures in Babysitting" LOL

I'm planning on watching Cat People too.

Death Proof. Meh. The action scenes were pretty awesome, but some of the acting and dialogue bordered on disgraceful.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Its heartwrenching and very very good. If it doesn't tke the Best Picture Oscar I will be shocked.

Four Christmases. Save yourself tenbucks and watch the previews, cause all the good parts are shown there.

Stepbrothers. Definitely top 10 worst movies I've ever watched. Couldn't finish it.

Wanted. I really enjoyed it. Who knew James McAvoy was so hot?

I watched the Dark Knight with the boy last night.... *prepares for the tomatoes* didn't think it was that fucking fabulous. It was long and predictable.

Greys, I rented Wanted as well but haven't watched it yet. Also will be watching "Horton Hears a Who" in the next couple days. Something good must be out!!

I saw Milk last weekend. Sean Penn, much as I don't care for his punk-ass in real life, was incredibly good as Harvey Milk. I think he'll win Best Actor for this, and he'll certainly deserve it. I was so moved near the end during his "Give them hope" speech, I cried. Everyone else in the theater was weepy too. It was a great moment in a great story.

I mentioned this in the million replies thread, in terms of in-depth story telling, the documentary The Times of Harvey Milk was a much better, more detailed job of showing who Harvey Milk was. I didn't know it when I wrote that comment, but turns out that documentary won the Oscar in 1984. It really was very good, lots of first-hand accounts from the people closest to him. I think it did a much better job than Gus Van Sant's attempt with Milk.

The movie was good because of the performances, Sean Penn's especially, and James Franco as his lover Scott and Emile Hirsch as a trick-turned-activist, were also very good. But the documentary was even better, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the Harvey Milk story.
