I was not able to enjoy The Bourne Identity. Actually I wonder why the movie bears that name, it's almost a shame to Robert Ludlum's book. I understand now why he never wanted to sell the rights to his books while he was alive. The film is so different from the book.

To Die For.... Early Nicole Kidman and very weenie Joaquin Phoenix. I saw it a few years ago, but I didn't really get to enjoy it because it was edited for cable. I saw this on a movie channel and it was good.. the progression of Nicole's character from naive dreamchasing to manipulative determination is well-acted. It's witty too, in a campy way. Ileana Douglass is in this too--love her.

A friend of mine who is a Ludlum nut expressed the same sentiments about the Bourne movies. Not having read the books, I thought that Matt Damon was the perfect Bourne. But apparently, Jason Bourne is much different (and older) in the books.

I finally watched both Grindhouse movies. They were okay, nothing special. I'd say I liked Death Proof a little bit better than Planet Terror, although the latter featured one of my favorite lines in movie history: "I am going to eat your brains and gain your knowledge." I will use that from now on every time I meet a woman.
Robert Rodriguez hasn't made a film I liked since Desperado, and even that was kinda lack-luster. It always mystifies me how a director can make an indie movie with no cash and little experience that's amazing, and then turn around and get a big budget and major studio support and do so little or often times so badly with it.
I understand that once you're a Hollywood movie maker, the producers want to tinker with everything you create, but I get the feeling that's not the case here. I just think RR's a bad director.

Well Matt Damon makes a good Bourne if they hadn't changed the story so much. The only part of the movie that is like the book is the beginning and the fact that he's an undercover agent. There is no mention of Carlos the Jackal which is what the story revolves around. I don't think he was much older in the book but it's been years since I've read it. I mean they've changed everything in the movie, even Marie is German when she's Canadian and works for the Canadian Government in the book. The Bourne Identity is a great book (as well as the 2 other books).

McConaughey's character was so unlikable it was painful to watch. He seemed borderline retarded. There was also a Paris Hilton wannabe daughter who was one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen on film. Overall, it was just bad.

I HATED it , most boring trash ever. It deserves to be a massive flop but it only made money because of the Kate/Matthew pairing. And I agree they somehow managed to have zero chemistry this time around.

La vie en rose, someone told me it was rather boring, but I thought it was really good and the way Marion plays Piaf is superb but also the little girl did a very good job.
Hairspray Why did I watch it..... wanted to see travolta as a woman and he really does drag like he should but that about it.

3 movies I've seen in theatres in the past 2 weeks:
Jumper - I love Doug Liman and don't have a problem with Hayden Christensen so I enjoyed it for what it is. A fun popcorn flick. I definitely need to see a sequel - there's very little exposition in this first film.
Definitely Maybe - It's definitely a chick flick and I'm a chick, so I really enjoyed it.
Juno - this film is so well done and Ellen Page is fantastic.

Definitely Kidman's most interesting part.

Wonderful ensemble cast with Nicole Kidman (one of her best
roles i.m.o.), Joaquin Phoenix, Dan Hadya, Casey Affleck,
Wayne Knight, Buck Henry a.m.o.

^Familiar faces in the cast.
LOVE this movie, with Kidman in one of her best performances
as dangerous airhead Suzanne Stone whose motto is
" You're not anybody in America unless you're on TV. On TV is
where we learn about who we really are. Because what's the point
of doing anything worthwhile if nobody's watching? And if people
are watching, it makes you a better person."
This was in the days when she still looked human, had reddish
hair and could move her face. She somehow often reminded me
of Anna Nicole Smith, too, in some scenes. Her American accent
is excellent and consistent throughout the movie, well done.

^Kidman still looking human.
I don't know on whom the author Joyce Maynard based the
character Suzanne (the story was based on the real-life case
of Pamela Smart, who seduced her 15-year old lover into murdering
her husband). But the remark about there not being a point in doing
anything if nobody's watching reminded me of Warren Beatty's
remark about Madonna in "Truth or Dare, In Bed with Madonna":
" She doesn't want to live off-camera, much less talk.
There's nothing to say off-camera. Why would you say
something if it's off-camera? What point is there existing? "

^The amazing resemblance between the uncredited Rain
Phoenix and her brother Joaquin.
The Smart case was in May of 1990, Truth or Dare was shot
from April 1990 until 1991 and released in May 1991. Maynard's
book was released in 1992.

^Kidman's Anna Nicole vibe and Joaquin looking horny.

To Die For is an awesome movie...love it.
Just watched 'The Heartbreak Kid' (the remake) w/ Ben Stiller. Never saw the original, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was pretty good. Wasn't awful, wasn't the greatest. Was worth the 2 hours of my life. Got a couple laughs out of it, so I was happy with that.
