Bill Nighy was hot as hell in Notes on a Scandal. I can't explain it, he played the boring husband, but the entire movie I was waiting for him to rip of Cate Blanchett's clothes and bang her on the stairwell.

I think it could have been a very good movie, but they went about it the wrong way.

No Country For Old Men last night. Meh. The ending was so anti-climactic the entire theater was like WTF and some people started booing and laughing.

I will say that Javier Bardem plays a psychopathic killer way too convincingly. If I ever see him I'm taking off running in the other direction. I don't care if you're DeNiro, Pacino, Nicholson--nobody can act that well.

Tommy Lee Jones did well with the material that was there (excellent job of looking haggard and sagely life-worn as a Bumfuck Nowhere, Texas sheriff), and so did Woody Harrelson, even if he hardly got any screen time.

It was a good movie, I just found the subject matter particularly depressing and disheartening. Too realistic a reminder of how there are psycho's out there and the ugly nature of money, drug deals gone wrong, etc. There was very little you could take away from it, or maybe very little I wanted to take away from it that I didn't already know: avoid psychopathic killers with blank stares and don't expect to get away with $2 million from the bloody scene of a heroin deal gone wrong.

The Mist. Didn't read the book but what a grim ending!

I watched Chuck and Larry last night... the Adam Sandler movie where two firemen get married for insurance benefits. I liked it until the cheesy courtroom scene where it got all sappy and preachy. I hate it when movies have a courtoom scene in which a lawyer gives a sappy speech about how "OK, maybe they did break the law but they're genuinely good people so can't we all just get along and appreciate the simple things in life??????" and then everyone cries and cheers.

I checked out the movie Timeline with Paul Walker & Gerard Butler and fell asleep on it. So, that should be a clue right there how good it was. LOL.

Earlier this eve I watched a syrupy Christmas movie on Lifetime with Jennifer Grey. I like sappy movies on cold winter nights, but I have to be doing something else while watching them or I'll fall asleep. It wasn't bad, very predictable, a nice family show that surprisingly included a lesson on PC for the gay issue for the young teen set. Typical romantic comedy, though... nothing special.

This is playing a few blocks from me, made me think of Chilly

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium

Adorable. Remember that it's rated "G", so it's a sweet, innocent little movie. Loved Dustin Hoffman in it, and all the craziness of his little "toy store".

My 12 year old son hated it. We went to a theater where you could raise the arms up between the seats, which he did, stretched out, and tried to fall asleep.

Gone Baby Gone - It was alright, I read some very positive reviews so my expectations were probably too high.

Natural born killers
I loved Mickey and Malory, they picked two great actors for those roles. Juliette Lewis is my girl.
