The Faculty; great movie. Corny, funny, lame, freaky, and disturbing (the aliens were creepy looking) all in one.

Albino Alligator; Viggo Mortensen is such an awesome actor; blows me away every time.

i like both of these. the faculty's great fun and albino alligator is a brilliant little movie. all the actors' performances are stellar.

I also saw Gone Baby Gone this weekend. Amy Ryan was good in her role, and the movie was entertaining, but it sure wasn't worth all the hype and kudos it got. I give it a B-

Wrong Turn (2003), by Rob Schmidt, on DVD => A rather formulaic horror extravaganza starring a bunch of D-to-C-list TV-reject actors in the vein of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hills Have Eyes remakes. There's nothing really original to it (group of people get lost in an isolated place where they can't contact anybody, run into a bunch of deformed weirdos who just happen to be in the business of killing every human they can find, the expected people escape after killing the foes, and oh wait look! It's not really the end!), but it's well-enough made and you should enjoy it if you like the genre. I hear last year's sequel is pretty good.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets, at the cinema => So great! Now, I should tell you, I absolutely loved the first National Treasure, and while I'll admit the first one is the better movie, they've managed to make a very successful, entertaining sequel. The cast is great, with the superb Nic Cage and the awesome Diane Kruger giving in nice performances of course, but also Jon Voight (in a bigger role this time), Ed Harris, Helen Mirren, and Harvey Keitel lending their expertise. As I've said, this is a pure gem of entertainment, and yes some parts of the script are a bit puzzling but all-inall it doesn't really matter and I'm looking forward to National Treasure 3.

Tokyo Eyes (1998), by Jean-Pierre Limosin, at the cinema => It was pretty good, I enjoyed it. A strange film though, and not really realistic, and certainly not for everybody. Indeed, this is a movie which I'd say isn't really about the story (a love story between a cop's younger sister and a sort-of criminal who makes people think that he's gonna kill them but never actually does, and who is also pursued by said cop) more than the strange mood which impregnates it. Check it out if you don't mind your movies being "unconventional".

Hostel- Was pretty bored by roughly the first half, started to get more interested as the actual "horror" movie part started. Still not an actual scary movie, just replacing actual horror with blood and guts, but I still mostly enjoyed it. I'll probably see the sequel at some point, but the Saw sequels are quite a bit higher on my list to watch first.

Feast of Love. Eh. I love Morgan Freeman but even he couldn't save me from being bored out of my mind. It probably could have been saved with a few more comedic moments, it was just too heavy, not what I expected.

No Country for Old Men--couldn't hang with it. I had to get up and wander around.

Much Ado About Nothing- Kenneth Branagh's version- perfect!! I showed this to my kids after we read Caesar to let them experience a Shakespearean comedy. Love it!

Little Children- Pretty good. Kate was great as usual, but the narrating kind of grated my nerves.

Swingers- Vince when he was still good looking. Pretty funny.

Fur the Diane Arbus story with Nicole Kidman.

Loved it. Not award worthy by any stretch of the imagination, and probably not liked by most, but if you like movies with a quirkiness to them, this is it. It has a "Twin Peaks" feel to it. Carnivale, Boxing Helena, Blue Velvet, etc., if you had fun watching any of those shows, you'll enjoy this one.

It did spark my interest in the photographer Diane Arbus, and reading about her online was nearly as interesting as the movie.

Kids - Had never heard of it prior til today. It's a 1995 film. Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson were the only people I recognized. The main characters are teenagers and it focuses on HIV, sex, drugs, rape, fighting - set in New York. Basically everything that's wrong with society. It was very depressing. And I badly wanted to hurt the lead character by the end of it too.

One of the actors in it, Harold Hunter died age 31 in 2006 of a cocaine overdose. I didn't know that til I googled him, and I really hated his character in this movie. Another actor Justin Pierce hung himself 5 years after he made his acting debut in this movie.

Has anybody seen this?

yeah. i saw it when it came out at the cinema even though i wasn't 18 yet and they actually checked ID because there was so much scandal surrounding the movie. had to get friends to buy my ticket.
i loved it even if it is hard to watch at times. i've seen all of larry clark's films and i know he gets criticised a lot for voyeurism and explicit sex scenes in his movies but i think that people that only see that in his films are missing the point and are too obsessed with that to see that he has made some amazing (if at times brutal) films and few directors can get such honest, natural performances out of young actors. i think it's the photographer in him - he started out as a photographer (mostly of skateboarders and street kids) and didn't start making movies until later on and it shows.

you should watch 'bully' and 'ken park' too, and 'another day in paradis' though that one is another genre altogether.

I didnt know Hunter died, pretty sad huh?

I seen it a couple of years back, the most disturbing thing I can recolect was Jennie's rape scene. I almost wanted to cut it off even though it was the end, but it shows what happens when you have unprotected sex. Over all, it was an independant movie but with shot with a good script and many up new coming actors.

the script was written by harmony korine when he was only 19 and a total amateur. clark gave him his first big break.

Amazing, shot his first movie at 19 and all he did was focus on real life issues. I dont think the movie got alot of recognition till years later, one of those discoveries you end up watching.
