I don't know if this was posted in here (sorry if I missed it) but Eric, Alexander Skarsgard, is Stellan's son. You all probably knew that already though. Stellan is such a good actor. For once a celeb spawn has looks and talent. I was just ranting about Rumer Willis in another thread.
Jason is weirdly attractive and repelling to me. Sometimes he looks super hot, then others he looks like his parents were brother and sister. I read that he is Australian. It would be interesting to hear him speak with an Aussie accent.

I dunno what to make of the whole Ryan Kwanten/Jason thing. Everyone involved in the show is constantly talking about how brilliant he is, how he's really smart and such a good actor that he can completely embody the blank look of sheer stupidity that the character has. However they also keep talking about how gorgeous he is, and I just think he's pretty average (as far as actors go).

So i'm on book four because as a person who began with the show i became inexplicably annoyed with all the bitches that were bitching about how Alan Ball (show creator) was and i quote :
"ruining the legacy of the books; killing all the good parts of the book; making a mockery of the books; the books the books the books the books".
As stated above I am on book 4 Dead to the World, and though i THOROUGLY enjoy the books, it is my opinion that Mr. Ball altered all the things necessary to make a great show.
Were Lafayette, and Tara not major characters on the show, it would not have been picked up for a second season. The Sookie/Bill storyline would NOT keep that show going.
Not even Alexander Sarsgard or whatever, in all his hottness as Vampire Eric couldn't carry this show alone.
I strongly recommend the books.
Book 1 Dead Until Dark can really drag seeing as it is verbatim to Season 1 almost. However it is uphill from there, and Charlaine Harris rules.
Also,
I still think that the whiners were just being bitches! Alan knew exactly what he was doing.

Oh & I hate Tara and that exaggerated accent, the fake "Billy Bad Ass" attitude of hers, her wanting Jason, her sensitivity to the name "Tara", the slave comments (could we exaggerate the whole "Angry Black Woman" stereotype any further?) and that shiteous purple fucking eyeshadow. what the fuck??? I wish Andy would Taze her ass!!

Oh dear, you are so very far behind. Tara does become more tolerable once you catch up to where we are.

I've watched them all. I STILL don't like her.... she's a whiny little "woe is I, woe is I" bitch.

ITA with your comments on what has to be season 1. I think they pretty much dragged the "Angry Black Woman" thing out to the point where i as a half black wanted to smash the fucking tv screen in.
However, I very much respect Alan Ball, and know that he did this for a reason. If you watch his other works you will see that he's constantly overplaying different stereotypes to make a point. I dont mind. He's a bit of a TV genius.

So very true--she is way behind, but she still has a point.

Are we talking about Season 2 up to the current episode which would be 3, because Tara's character has done a COMPLETE 360, and isint even recognizable to Season 1 Tara. PLEASE EXPLAIN

Totally, totally agree. One of my favorite all-time movies is American Beauty, which Ball wrote, and the characters' depths are outstanding.

Yes! Was able to watch ep. 3.
I've read all the books and, of course, am lusting after Eric. (gosh, that sounded incredibly lame, but true.) TV show Eric isn't letting me down.
I'm interested to see where they go with the Marianne business as well as Lafayette. I agree that if the whole of season 1 had been only about Sookie and Bill it wouldn't have made it. Though I really love the books I'm glad they made changes in the show.

Maybe I'm holding a grudge from last season. I'm trying to give her a chance but so far, I'm not liking it. The only character I totally LOVE is Lafayette. He kills me.

I like Tara because she's smart and aware. Probably the smartest human character on the show. It made sense she was so angry, considering her life story. I agree her continuous outbursts at everybody around her were getting tiresome, but they toned her down just in time.
