I loved Quinn in the books, but thats probably because I know a lot of guys like that where "babe" is affectionante, not a pseudo-key to a girls knickers.

Now, if we could just keep the tv spoilerage to a minimum....

i agree - and actually I'm feeling very turned off about series 3. Not seen it yet and feel very about it.
Is anyone keeping a running tally of what we shouldn't talk about? So far: Eric, books, television show.... what the hell are we supposed to talk about in here?

Nope its ok to talk about Eric but not the complete and utter ridiculous string of "aksers is hot aksers is hot askers is hot askers is hot askers is hot" posts.

I'm not going to bother with series 3, so don't worry about that. Some fuckwit posted a full recap of S2 the night before it started despite me saying that we'd not had it yet & completely spoilt the whole thing.

I'm disappointed with Claudine. Whoever does the casting over there is really hit or miss.

which led me to ask why Jason didn't have the same blood - then I have to remember AB doesn't stick to the books so I'm waiting to see if Sookie and Jason have the same father.

I'm not to sure about the *cue Bambi music* ah ah ah haaa fairy stuff. Guess like Glenda we are in the good fairy land Now I'm letting go of the books and just trying to figure out where AB is going to go next.

I think letting go is key for your enjoyment of TB if you have read the books. My DH is constantly asking me what's going on (I've read all the books) and I have to keep telling him over and over that this or that didn't happen in the books. It does get hard when you've formed a certain picture in your head of a character while you were reading the books and then to see who they've casted ... like Claudine for instance. Face wise, spot on. But she was 6 foot tall in the books, obviously not in the show. But that's okay with me. It would be boring otherwise. Plus, if they stayed true to the books, we'd have no more Lafayette and that would be a travesty. LOL

I disagree on the tv spoilers. I understand some members are in other countries that might be a year behind, but we can't wait a whole year to discuss it. And we do need a place to discuss it. I suggested a second thread for those who are behind us. Or, they can just not click on this thread until they've seen the episode, I sure don't come in here if I don't see the episode until later in the week.

I don't know why but it's just not doing it for me this season. The horrible special effects at the end of the episode was just the cherry on top. This season has been "meh".. maybe it's just me.

Me too - and it's one of the things I like so much about the show. The terrible accents (Beeeel Cawpmton never fails to make me giggle), the cheesy dialogue, the insanely bad overacting in the supposed-to-be-serious parts.... it's fun

Honestly... I read all the posts for season 2 and felt pretty about that ... but then when I actually watched it, I found I enjoyed it. Possibly the bad criticisms I'd heard about lowered my expectations to the point where I wasn't fussed by the changes or OTTness of it all.

Honestly, I was reading at another forum for True Blood and people focusing on Jason and Sookie not having the same blood/blood type is ridiculous. Borderline retarded. I have 5 siblings and I'd bet money that we don't all have the same blood type because my parents had different blood types. JESUS! Even in the books, I don't think they did *that's why Niall didn't want anything to do with Jason, for Christ's sake*. People just focus on the dumbest shit.

I agree. This is the True Blood thread so it's bound to have spoilers .

I haven't watched any other vampire romance shows on TV so I have nothing to compare it to but so far I like the series .

Funny how sub characters are so well received that they become main characters like Lafayette.

I didn't like this weeks episode as much as I did last weeks.

exactly. it's vampire camp comedy to me. i haven't read the books but i don't get the impression that's what they're about but the show to me is just light fun. it's still really surprising to me that allan ball, the man behind the emo-ness of american beauty and six feet under, is behind this. the humour is the same but a.b. and six feet had a gravitas to them that true blood definitely doesn't have. i guess he felt like having fun after those more serious projects.

I think the show defies criticism about acting, because of what you just said. It would be like criticizing a carnival for having rigged games.

The only person on the show who seems to be playing his character straight is Stephen Moyer.

I also wanted to mention that I was watching a few minutes of "Changeling" yesterday, and I recognized the doctor who institutionalizes Angelina Jolie is the same actor who plays Russell Edgington. Once again, a good, subtle actor signing up for a really cool campy role on "True Blood".

I love how campy it is, probably why I love it. Sookie is incredibly ugly when she screams, does she need to scream every episode? I'm confused about Bill...is he good now or is he bad? I love how Tara had enough strength to throw him out of the van.
