What's with all the faux hawks.

"Casa Motherfucker" is going to get on my nerves.

And when the guy was talking about his piccata and "remembering tomatoes" I was like "NOOOOO!!!!!"

I can't stand the fauxhawks -- not an attractive look man or woman.

Andrew -- he gets bug eyes that creep me out.

The piccata...it's one of the easiest dishes. I make a mean piccata -- no tomatoes or "plate filled with starches" when I do it.

I think that some of the chefs are so busy learning what's trendy that they don't master the classics. You master the classics -- techniques, sauces, etc. and you can adapt/learn anything. Then, try new things, find your signature style, etc.

I'm a little tired of the million and one ceviches and seared meat. I'd love to see something a little different.

I need to learn the art of souffle.

I tried years ago but I got curious and opened the oven to peek.

Bad move!

Oops! I don't think I'm brave enough to try one. I know I'd peek.

Padma seems so Xanaxed out. And still manages to be smug.

I actually find the bald guy arrogant judge to be somewhat attractive. His assy-ness can be a turn on for some reason?

So the only black person was the first to go. There goes the token! (kidding). She should go into modeling. wow.

HA! Looks like Tony Bourdain reads about himself online.

eG Forums -> Tony Bourdain, brought to you by Michelob

Anybody else from here post over there? Their TC thread is usually pretty good because a lot of the posters are professional chefs. I post there under KristiB50.

When Valerie said she was making blini's ahead of time I thought, "Oh nooooo...!!!"

And were they saying "Bellini?" as in the drink?

I think Nikki should have gone. She annoys. She's the one who gave the shrooms to the judges when other teams explained why they didn't serve certain dishes.

Gorilla's should have done a vegetarian menu. If I were on that team I would have fought for that! Then been edited to look like a beyotch but I would have been right!

Oh and did anyone else squeal at Rick Bayless in next weeks previews? LOVE HIM!

Also loved that the poll on the show concluded Tom is a bear

Are you by any chance Kristlkrost on the Bravo Top Chef board?

I liked this episode..right person went home, everyone a little less 'edgy' and assholish. Gail had a good line with "it looks like something a bear would produce, not eat'. Not as good as 'BURNT. RUBBERY. EGGS!!!' though

guy assessment:

Mark: nice amusing little hobbit. Nice body from the season previews

Ryan: like Rocco said in his blog. at least he did not make an embarrassment out of himself tonight

Spike/Evangelos: why the 'Spike"? Evangelos is a hot name and makes me think he is sexy..it is a name for a sexy guy. Spike is the name of an asshole. We shall see which one he really deserves.

Richard: Still loathe him, glad he got a quickfire smackdown

Manuel: I just knew he was a nice classy guy-he will be toast soon.

Andrew: Liked pottymouth even before this episode, find him strangely hot. like his energy. Glad he done good!

Eric: Kind of not in this episode..step it up bro!

Dale: UGH!~

No I don't read that one. I looked at it during season one and didn't like the format but maybe I'll check it out again.

I just post here and EGullet on the show. I lurk on TWOP too.

I mostly lurk on TWOP. I've gotten my hand slapped by their very strict mods. They are so strict about postings. It intimidates me.

I still am not fond of Andrew. His nose reminds me a bit of a proboscis monkey. Appropriate observation given they were at the zoo last night.

The blini mistake and the celery root chip error -- such common sense stuff! The pressure must be so high for these guys to not consider these basic rules of thumb

Even my non-culinary self was cringing at the 'buh-leen-ee' pronunciations. Also they should have watched on Youtube or SOMETHING the previous seasons..

-Mushrooms do not cater well! (Howie)
-Know a damn dessert!
-Bad food will get you sent home over bad presentation every time! (Emily and her salt disaster..repeated by Nimma)..inedible food is the curse of death(as it should be)

Know there will be a restaurant war, a catering challenge, you will NEVER have enough time, there will be twists, etc etc. Damn!

I'm totally in love with Mark. All he had to do was talk! The Aussie/New Zealand accent is to die for! I need some people to get weeded out though too many to keep up with.

Same here. He even looks like an ex-bf of mine, add in that accent and **swoon**.
