I think he's had tons of wakeup calls...he's been in and out of rehab since the '80s--kicked out of Guns n Roses for drugs (which you know had to be bad, it's not like his bandmates were schoolboys) suffered two strokes from his drug use, yet here he is how many years later, still using. It's pretty amazing he's still alive.

Sorry, but no way does he belong in that house. He seems like one of those guys who gets high and it's instant asshole--he has a history of domestic violence convictions too. And Dr. Drew just lets him back in after he's caught high and holding and after the way he treated the house mom? This guy is a danger to himself and others and needs way more intensive treatment than a 21 day "TV rehab" and "Sober Living" house.

I agree, this is all for ratings, and I'm really starting to lose respect for Drew.

Ok, I caught the episode last night...

Did he THINK he was going to get away w/continually getting high?? I don't get his logic?? Though, I guess when you are a hard core addict, logic is out the window....

Very sad. Very sad. And Carolina knew all about it....
I wouldn't know what to do either..

I know! I liked Steven at the beginning, then just seeing his antics flipped the switch for me. I've always liked Drew but it sure does seem like all he cares about are ratings too...

I also agree Steven has had far too many wake-up calls. I don't know if anything will phase him at this point.

yeah i'm a big fan of Drews but he is being way to sweet to these addicts i guess cuz they're celebrities i dont know. although he was always really nice and understanding to callers on Loveline.

It's a shame so many talented people lose their lives to smack. From what I saw he needs a good six months to a year in a hardcore treatment center not TV time if he's serious about sobriety. Maybe these people just do it for the cash and exposure - who knows an addicts motive. I really don't get this show. I recently saw Mary Carey coming out of a bar saying she was filming some porno called Rehab with Dr Screw this show wrapped awhile ago. The other thing that was weird was she called 911 at like 2:30 saying she had a violent, under the influence heroin addict who was in possession of the substance and it took the cops like an hour and a half to show up. What about the rest of the people in the house?? If it helps anyone at all, then I guess it's worth it but I tend to wonder how hard they work the program because I haven't seen much of that, just drama.
as privileged as a whore...victims in demand for public show, swept out through the cracks beneath the door, holier than thou, how?

Meryl doesn't even try anymore. She just calls Lanvin and asks for curtains with a belt.~Bitter
Can we interest you in Leann Rimes? She has a nice little cadre of fans you'd probably enjoy.~ Pecan Pie

Apparently someone did an entire PSA about how bad drugs are...

Well, I'm sure cash and exposure is a big part of it--for people like Nikki McKibbin or Amber Smith, it might be the first steady paycheck they've had in awhile. Plus, for those who really want help, it's free treatment.

I just don't think someone like Adler is a candidate for this kind of "streamlined" rehab considering his long, sad history of addiction. So I really question why they would put him on this show in the first place, unless they were looking for major drama and ratings.

What's sad is, that video is how many years old? 12 or 13...and he's still using now. Also interesting that his mom (who he vilified on CR) seemed very much a part of his life back then, and helping in his recovery.

Wow this episode was unbelievable. I couldn't stand Stephen at the end of it, and hell yes his wife knew he had the stuff and was using it. I thought he was going to attack the house manager. And who the hell thought it was a great idea to have 75 strangers over to the house for a bbq, without checking who brought what with them. That "Tiny" thug was a big asshole, threatening the woman the second he got there. I'm dreading when Andy Dick shows up, cause I think he is the worst of all of them if what we see in the rags is correct. I am also not liking Mary, she seems like she'll be off the wagon any second and I can't stand her laugh. Ooh, it's so nice to be able to discuss this show, my husband hates it and can't see why I like watching it.

Yea, that BBQ was not a good idea...at least allowing the residents to invite anyone they wanted. Maybe in a week or so...especially given the events of the day before w/Steven when he showed up!

And I am interested to see how Nikki and Mary do at the bar.....not looking good from the previews.

If he has any experience in addiction medicine, he had to know that three weeks of rehab won't do jack for these people. It's all done for the show, not for the health of the patients. Sick.
Don't come down so hard on Drew. He really is very well-qualified, have a look at his credentials:
    - BA Amherst College
    - MD University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine of USC
    - Residency Internal Medicine, Huntington Memorial Hospital
    - Board Certified, American Board of Internal Medicine
    - Board Certified, American Society of Addiction Medicine
    - Member of American College of Physicians

And as for the treatment time, I think that some of them may be in treatment longer than it seems on TV. I was reading some articles on Jessica Sierra, and she's actually doing / has done a full year of treatment at Pasadena Recovery Center. So we don't know exactly when it was all filmed.

You saw her in person or there was a video of this?

As far as the cops, that's LA, it sucks. They don't even come out to car wrecks unless someone is dying. And I once had a total stranger, he was drunk or something, in my front lawn, shooting a shotgun in the air and screaming racist threats and it STILL took them an hour to show up. I don't know if its the traffic, or if they are under-staffed or what.

I know his medical background. That's precisely why I'm so hard on him. He's experienced enough to know he's making poor decisions for these people. The first rule of medicine is "Do no harm." Addicts do not get the help they need in three weeks. Specifically, celebrity addicts are not going to get the help they need with a camera in their face all hours of the day. I've always liked Drew but he's become a sellout. In the process, he's dragged in a whole lot of other people who should have had real therapy.
