I thought this movie was absolutely horrible. I love horror films but this was not scary at all! the story was confusing, the reactions of the characters were stupid and unbelievable, there was some terrible acting going on (the policewoman, the daughter). when I went the theater was packed, but the whole audience was laughing in the moments when we were supposed to be scared because it was just so ridiculous. in the end i also heard murmur of dissaproval everywhere. people were like: what kind of stupid ending is this.
no offence fans of 'silent hill'! but i just hated it.

I saw about a hour ago. I had the same expreince shadowplay had, me and the audience could'nt stop laughing at almost all the lines in the movie. Especially when one of the chicks went into a damaged room and said "I think there was a fire in here" and other such "no shit sherlock" lines in this movie.

I did like the atomsphere of the movie though and some of the music from the game, oh and Pyramid Head. Other than that, shitty movie.

You really can't ask people who design video games to come up with a good plot though...I mean some video games had amazing plots, but not many - and the interactivity adds a lot to it as well. (And yes I know it's not written by the same people )

Here is a good explanation of the movie to those that found it confusing:

I thought it was pretty good. They don't spell everything out for you, you have to do a little thinking on your own.

I saw and one those gamers who will see it no matter what critics say. Pyramid Head could have had a little bit more scenes, but in the video game, you really dont see him that much either. The acting was terrible, although that's how crappy it is when they translate the game for release US. The music is genuwine and the gore was awesome. The ending of it was kind of confusing to me, it long and drawn out deffinatly not what I expected.

    *SPOILERS*
It was cool to find out that the only CGI used for the movie, was only for the weather change and the freaky characters only used latex for the special effex.

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable.

Umm.... the song in the beginning is called 'Room of Angel'. As for that other instrumental theme song used in the trailer and movie, I think it's composed by Akira Yamaoka.
