Danielle is scary. That face, those boobs, and just because you are thin doesn't mean you should wear a bikini. Ford model? I sincerely doubt it. She should be careful what she announces on TV. And, exactly how would she know she was the first person in NJ to have a black American Express? Or when Madonna go her card? She really spouts a lot of BS. As for finding someone to take care of her, how about taking care of herself and getting a J-O-B?!

Someone said Teresa's hair looks fake -- I doubt it is, she just has that hair where the hairline starts an inch above her eyebrows and has a million hairs per square inch.

Dina, Caroline and Teresa could have come right out of "The Sopranos".

Don't have much of a take on Jacqueline yet, since she is not really a NJ housewife.

I'll certainly watch, as I think this will be tacky and classless, and make for some really good laughs, as I bumped into this type of women in NJ periodically. Bergen County is known as the sixth borough of NYC, and the accents, quite frankly, are worse than anything you will hear in NY! I am originally from NYC and lived in Essex County for 17 years, where real money is much less showy.

The person from Central NJ who said they have no accent -- we all have an accent, just depends where you are. And in central NJ, I hear people say SAWL for Saw. As in SAWL some wood. There are a few other words that are said in an odd way, just can't think of them right now... But Sawl always sticks in my head.

Well, everyone does have an accent, but some are much thicker and more distinguishable than others, like North Jersey as compared to Central. I don't think the Central NJ accent immediately places where you are from to people like the North does.

Never heard anyone say sawl, though.

    Default Accents

Not everyone from NYC (and Lawng gyland) or Northern NJ sound like the housewives. I am often asked where I am from. And yes, some accents are much thicker than others or dthicker, lol. The only accent in this country I don't like is the MA accent -- not the Boston accent, but the other one from the outlying areas. I spent a year in a town outside of the city-- concud wah-da depah-tment (concord water department!) or daw-tee (dottie). I have two friends from NJ that say sawl. The area of NJ I lived in was Essex county (very easy commute to NYC), and most of my neighbors were from NY, and very few had heavy accents.

I HAVE heard "sawr" for "saw" and "drawr" for "draw" - drives me nuts. And just to get it off my back, the only people that say "Joisey" are those who aren't actually from New Jersey.

I've heard that r at the end... as in:

Dee-ner for Dina, and Lee-ser for Lisa

Yup! No one IN Jersey says Joisey. But I have heard the "r" added on when there's not one and dropped when there is - usually more North....

Then as you move South you start getting some Philly accents where they have "L" issues - hode for hold, code for cold. And I can't actually spell the accent for Philly O's. Like in home, and boat....just can't figure a way to write that out!

Real' mob story of New Jersey wives: Family has ties to rubbed out 'Tiny' Manzo

    Monday, April 27th 2009, 4:00 AM

They live in a land of made men and unmade beds.

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" are coming next month, with the latest installment of the hit reality show introducing a quintet of Garden State gals - including two with a mob pedigree.

Sisters Dina and Caroline Manzo - they married a pair of Jersey brothers - provide a real-life link to "The Sopranos" for the Bergen County-based program.

Their father-in-law, Albert (Tiny) Manzo, was executed mob-style in August 1983, after he and Gambino family soldier Peter A. Campisi were suspected of skimming from a mob casino on Staten Island.

"A couple of weeks later, they found Tiny Manzo in the trunk of his car," recalled Robert Buccino, a New Jersey organized crime expert.

The 350-pound mobster took four slugs to his torso. His naked body - the arms and legs bound in plastic - was discovered in the trunk of his parked Lincoln-Continental outside a supermarket in Hillside, N.J.

    The killing was never solved.
Campisi, a made man and Tiny's partner in the casino, suffered a similar fate, Buccino recalled.

The colorful Manzo, who ran for mayor of Paterson in 1974, also owned the Brownstone Restaurant - one of the main backdrops for action in "Housewives."

His two wealthy sons, Albert and Tommy, still operate the venerable Paterson catering facility. Blond Dina and red-headed sibling Caroline are the first pair of sisters featured on the hit show.

They all live in pricey Franklin Lakes, an exclusive enclave that's home to a pair of New York sports legends - Phil Simms and Willie Randolph - and disgraced ex-NYPD boss Bernie Kerik.

Despite their lavish lifestyles, huge bankrolls and pricey McMansions, household chores remain an issue for these capo di cutie capis.

A preview show caught Dina Manzo and daughter Lexi feuding over the mess in the 12-year-old's bedroom. Regular episodes begin airing May 12 on Bravo.

Nowhere in the preview, which introduced the five titular housewives, is there mention of Tiny, his murder or his mob ties.

Dina and her sister stress their Italian heritage and devotion to family.

The other housewives are their brother's wife, Jacqueline Laurita, and local women Teresa Giudice and Danielle Staub.

Look for Staub to cause the most in-season fireworks: She's feuding with Dina Manzo, enjoying phone sex with a guy known only as "Guccimodel" and carrying a cell phone with nude pictures of herself.

"You either love me or you love to hate me, there is no in-between," she announces. Her bio brags about a "history of celebrity hook-ups" that will no doubt emerge in future episodes.

The Jersey girls, in their debut, pinball between vapid and vain as they live the high life. They work on their tans, spend outrageously, flash endless cleavage and visit the beauty parlor.

Carmela Soprano, eat your heart out.

Which is not to say the show wouldn't benefit if Tiny was still around. When Albert Manzo made his mayoral run, he was a law-and-order candidate advocating public hangings.

"He was a real character," Buccino said. "A huge guy. He was well-known."

Okay I watched tonight's episode, and Teresa's little girls are spoiled little brats. She shells out big $$ so they can all dress alike. She said she even likes to make sure the whole family matches when they get dressed.

    And her dream home? Tacky.

I can't even get started on Danielle. She is such a trashy whore.

Oh My Gawad. Are any of their husbands in waste disposal management? Do they have pouting sons with Fanta-orange tans and Spiro haircuts?

^Oh how I miss the Gotti boys!

I love Caroline's kids, especially the middle boy. He's hilarious! Really I like her whole family dynamic.

Teresa's girls are ridiculous brats. Although I did like how her oldest Gia was talking about her audition, she seems to have a better handle on things than her mom.

I feel for Jacqueline. You can really tell she's a good girl and is trying to do right by everyone.

Dina cracks me up! She talks about Danielle locking her in the basement with lotion, lol.

Finally Danielle still creeps me out. How she thinks she's a sex symbol is still boggling my mind...
