My housemates and I went to see this movie, and apart from N telling me off for laughing loudly at the cheesy bits and occasionally going "OK, that just doesn't make sense - does it?!" it was good. Nice fluff to watch.

THe only disappointing thing was teh Davy Jones/Calypso storyline. After all that stuff I wanted something a bit more impressive than a bloody whirlpool...

But that kinda summed up this film - nice, light entertainment, but any interesting plot points were tossed in favour of crowdpleasing repeats of previous jokes. Which meant that while it was an okay movie, and I'll get the DVD and happily watch it when I want to watch some fluff, it wasn't great either.

So many little bits just didn't make sense - why did Jack suddenly have his angel/devil and 1000 Jacks following him around?? (Though it was PISS funny!)

I thought this was going to be the last Pirates flick. Guess not, with that ending. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum... let's go find the fountain of youth!
So true. I enjoyed it because I loved the first and this was still a fun film to watch. It's not a fucking masterpiece but I found it to be highly entertaining.

I was disappointed with Davy/Calypso as well. Everybody on earth that I know was disappointed with that.

The 1000 Jacks were a hallucination; probably from being in DJL for too long. I figure because Jack is a drunk dumbass they stuck around with him.

And you're definitely not the only one who didn't get the ending because they didn't explain it at all. I think they totally butchered Will and Elizabeth's story-line to add in unnecessary crap. There are apparently a lot of cut scenes that explain this. I hope they make some kind of an extended version cause I feel bad for Will with the way they left it. He did all that shit only to get fucked over in the end. Come on! I much prefer the happy ending that they originally intended; not the crap they made it seem like because of cut scenes.

I really liked the first POTC...but I didn't like the second one very much. But THIS one was the worst movie I have sat through in a long time at the theater. It made no sense, it was just a jumbled up mess and it was hard to even tell what they were saying half of the time. It was at least an hour too long, too many confusing and unnecessary scenes and so many things were not explained. I heard Jerry Bruckheimer say with his own mouth that this was the last POTC.....and that this one "tied up all the loose ends". HUH????? It looked more like the opposite to me!
Jack Sparrow was a nice idea for the first film, but he's not funny the third time around. Keith Richards as his dad was a flop IMO. I can't stand Elizabeth and Will. The sea creatures made my stomach churn. So if this isn't the last POTC movie, it definitely is the last one that I will be going to see. I just didn't like it.

I loved it!!!

There were some "What just happened parts"...but in general I liked it

For WTF parts...maybe I dozed off or something, but how the heck did Elizabeth, Will and Jack end up on different ships? Weren't they all rescued by the same ship or some crap?

I remember reading an interview with the director where he said that the original ending was that Will was bound to the Dutchman for ever, but 10 years pass and Will comes to shore and finds Elizabeth, and because she stayed faithful the curse is broken.

Well... ya that makes sense. It coincides with what the writer has been saying in his blog/message board.

AliceInWonderland: You took the words right out of my mouth! LMAO! That's the only thing that really got me. I want a happy ending and all for Will but they made Elizabeth such a ho; I can't ever imagine her being faithful for 10 years. Unless she locked herself on a desert island and lived alone.
