Everybody Loves Raymond is HILARIOUS! and was rated just right, contrary to the shows I mentioned that were hailed like the second coming
Seinfeld, now THAT was overrated, repititious and boring. But then, they were honest about it being "a show about nothing" Sure, some episodes were funny, but I always found the hooplah about it grossly over the top.

I liked Seinfeld, but I thought "Friends" was pretty lame. I didn't find any of the characters on that show likable or believable.

Seinfeld was a good show, but imho NOT the greatest sitcome of all time like TV Guide said. I mean, hello All In the Family?? I Love Lucy? I like Seinfeld, and always will, but it wasn't the greatest thing ever.

I dont mind South Park, but its got nothing on the Simpsons. All these shows like American dad, family guy, futurama, I never got into because I've treated them all like second rate versions of the Simpsons.

I'd never call Seinfeld overrated, I love that show. And it never went downhill like alot of other sitcoms do when they're on their last legs. Jerry Seinfeld said he wanted to end the show while it was on top. Smart idea, because now Seinfeld fans cant get enough of the re runs.

And I used to think Friends was way overrated but I'm starting to watch it now and I cant stand the female characters, but the guys are funny.

REALITY TV has to be the most overrated shit ever, IMO.

Desperate Housewives and Gilmore Girls. I tried sitting through one episode of Gilmore Girls and just couldn't. I have to agree with louiswinthorpe111 and say that Prison Break is awesome though.

Neither have I. Not one single minute of one single episode...however was advised to never watch it or I would be hooked...
Eta I never liked Seinfeld either...but have to disagree with the Law and Order (well criminal intent can get kinda lame) they are actually IMO pretty good...most of them are actually thought provoking...

I couldn't stand the ross and rachel "love story".

It's sort of ironic people liked Rachel. Rachel was the most amoral character in a good girl guise that came down the pike. She ditches her groom, hooks up with Paolo, sleeps with her former fiance while he was engaged to her recently ‘forgiven’ friend, plotted to wrestle Ross from Julie and promptly dumped him when he even thought to criticize her; ‘forgave’ him, dumped him in favor of a job, reemed him when he hooked up with someone else during their breakup, broke up with him again, although they were already apart; threw his ‘mistake’ in his face at every given opportunity, conspired to get rid of the formerly bald-headed girl he was dating by convincing her to go bald again, wrote a long letter blaming him for their breakup, again, broke up with him when he didn’t shoulder all of the responsibility, threw ‘his’ mistakes in his face regularly, pawns Emily off on him and when things clicked between he and Emily, she plotted to get him back; goes to his wedding in England for the expressed purpose of getting him back; punishes him for wanting to make the marriage work with Emily, makes fun of him for dating a college student and in turn, starts dating the girl’s father, marries Ross while drunk and blames him for the fiasco, gets angry when she senses chemistry between Ross and her sister, Jill; seduces Ross and gets pregnant, forbids Ross from flirting/dating while she was pregnant, meanwhile dabbling with inappropriate flirtations with Ross’s best friends, Joey and Will (as played by Mr. Pitt), gave birth and seriously considered Joey’s ‘proposal’— at this point, I stopped watching, with the writers’ constantly relying on women making out with each other jokes and the biggest joke of all ‘ROSS AND RACHEL BELONG TOGETHER’.
People who belong together don’t jerk each other around like Rachel did to Ross and any woman who wants to be on either end of that f%cked up leash needs extensive therapy. I need therapy, sitting through that sh$t as long as I did.

I've never watched a single episode of any of these and I've never understood the appeal
Then your opinion means nothing. I could add Gilmore Girls to the list, but I didn't because, to be fair, I'VE NEVER SEEN AN EPISODE.

Your post thoroughly confuses me. Maybe you didn't get the point of this thread???

Ho, you took the words right outta my mouth. Word stealer!!!! Anyhoo, I could NOT disagree more with whoever nominated Lost, IMO it's one of the best shows - if not the best show - on TV in a VERY long time. Intelligent, intriguing, and humorous.
Now if we're talking crap shows (that I have actually SEEN):
Laguna Beach
The OC
ER
7th Heaven
Survivor, Deal or No Deal, and basically any other of those dumb ass reality shows

DeChayz!! I love it when I run into you!

As long as we're in defense mode might I add:
Desperate Housewives deserves the hype!! It's a salacious, ridiculous "Oh-my-God-can-you-believe-what-she-just-did?!?!" kind of show! Total guilty pleasure!!

ITA what you said, DeC, about Lost. And who said Law & Order is overrated? WHO??!!!? Come here, kneel down before me, and take what's coming to you. I SAID KNEEL!!!

I am completely with you on this. It seems it was so funny then because that particular brand of wtf humor hadn't been done or wasn't expected as much. Now it just seems so dated.

Will have to vigorously disagree on the Law & Order and Family Guy; I LOVE these, will never get sick of them, could watch them ad nauseum. Just my cup of tea, I suppose.

Actually, I snicker at how both the Simpsons and South Park writers always have to make a jab at its popularity by saying they're rip-offs or second-rate versions of their shows. I think they're popular because they're just that good.
