I HATED Lost in Translation. Maybe I'm just not hip enough to get it.
As for Pretty Woman, I was disappointed when I first saw it because i thought it was average but I've seen it a few more times since and enjoyed it.

Totally agree with Lost In Translation and In the Bedroom... WTF was so great about them?

Also, i have to add "Ray". I can't believe i managed to stay awake for all 3 painfully boring hours of that. Worst bio pic i've ever seen. And the more i think about Jamie Foxx winning for that role, the more is pisses me off.

    Pulp Fiction, HATED it
Chariots of Fire, never did get it
In the Bedroom, great acting, but a snoozer
    Wedding Crashers, STOOOPID
Breakfast at Tiffany's, love classics and AH, but totally overrated
Citizen Cane, dreadfully dull. Yes, I get Rosebud was a sled, who cares
Lost in Translation, did not get the appeal of this movie

i LOVE lost in translation.. LOVE IT. It's so different.. a movie about lost souls, the nuance of human interaction... so subtle and not a linear, basic, story/plot driven movie.. gorgeous.

I found it fascinating and hypnotic, so perhaps it's just not your cup of tea

Loathed the English Patient. Just couldn't relate to the main characters. The movie was beautifully made- just couldn't stay awake long enough to get interested.

i hated that movie too.. the book was better, but not by much.

There's only so much to work with when you have reserved british characters devoid of personality and covered in disguising burn makeup.

Shut up all you Lost in Translation haters!! SHUT UP!!! And In the Bedroom was damn good, too. So suck on it!

I'm finding it hard to think of something I find overrated. So I guess I'll jump on the The English Patient bandwagon. *shrug*

Oh, and if anybody says one damn word about Crash (not the James Spader movie) I'ma gonna hunt you down on Thursday. Cuz that's my day off from work. HAH!

I just thought of one!!! TITANIC!!!

I loved "In the Bedroom", too, WickedHo. Great minds think alike. I thought Sissy Spacek should have gotten Best Actress, and I was so pissed off she didn't win.

Anyway, here are my Overrated Films:

Memento: I had heard such good things about it, and I was sure I would love it, but it just frustrated and bored me.

Titanic: What a vapid Harlequin novel of a movie! If you're going to make a movie of a real-life event, at least have compelling and believeable characters, not these Jack and Rose nitwits! And Celine Dion's warbling adds insult to injury.

Shakespeare in Love. Once again, I thought I would love this movie, but I was very disappointed. I love Shakespeare, but this was a mediocre film.

Pretty Woman. More like, Pretty Stupid.

Forrest Gump, or as I call it, Forrest Chump. I know this movie is supposed to be heartwarming and sincere, but I laughed like crazy at that stupid Gump. He always managed to be around when all these historic events occurred. Right! What if he was actually the triggerman in the JFK assassination? Now that would have made the movie interesting.

I loved Brokeback Mountain. I was also disappointed it lost at the Oscars.

Dearest Wicked, the question posed was what do you think. Not what does WickedHo think....

And like Grimm said, the recycled songs. It pissed me off when I started to hear the themes from Braveheart - I sit through a nearly 3 hour movie about a ship that I know is going to sink, and the best the composer can give me is the recycled songs? Yea.
