He was the writer of The Imitation Game.

Loved his speech and I'm especially glad my 11-year-old son got to see it (it led to a good discussion about what he meant, and about Alan Turing, etc.).

Thanks! Glad you had that moment with your son too. Just got a text from my daughter saying her twitter is on fire with college kids tweeting: STAY WEIRD. BE PROUD, YOUR DAY IS COMING.

I was thinking how she probably can't breathe in those dresses with those poor tortured boobs so smooshed against her.

i can't decide who deserves best director more between iñárritu, anderson and linklater. i'm super glad for iñárritu but sad the other two didn't win lol. especially linklater, for making such a unique, original movie.
it's still my favourite oscar category though.

Dammit, my husband and I lost our bet that Linklater would win. $10 bucks in the hole.

I haven't seen Boyhood but a DJ today said she wishes she could get back that 2 hours, and she did bit feel it was anything special. Is it really good, or is it just that it is different.

That's great. And I have to admit, I'm still a bit weepy after his speech.

    it's both, sluce.

but the 3 movies that i loved most in that category - birdman, grand budapest and boyhood, are very original and very idiosyncratic films, director's films. auteur films, as the french say. so obviously they will illicit extreme reactions. i've heard people whose opinions i respect when it comes to movies, say they hated or loved these movies. but love them or hate them, they won't leave you indifferent.

I haven't seen many movies this year, the curse of having young kids. But, I've loved Iñárritu's work for years. Amores Perros is wonderful and heart wrenching. I'm glad he won.
