Nah, i thought he did a great job as a raw and brutal bond. It helped that th movie was fantastically well done to boot.

He did a horrible job. James Bond does NOT run around an entire movie with his lips pouting out like a goddamn playmate, just like Pierce and his ridiculously never-mussed hair. He wasn't smoldering like Bond is supposed to, the love story was completely unbelievable, and I certainly didn't buy that he was smart enough to beat a bunch of international hustlers at a poker tournament.

I didn't take that as pouting at all, i took it as almost predatorially disinterested in anything but what he was supposed to do.

He wasnt supposed to be smouldering.. it was a rough around the edges Bond. No nonsense, more brutal, not all done up in gadgets and stupid pretensions.

I could not disagree more, Greysfang. He was fantastic! It was "Bond Begins" and I loved that he showed emotion. And smoldering, you bet. I practically started hyperventilating in the scene where he comes out of the water. Who needs Bond girls, even some of my straight friends were mesmerised.

I've seen every last Bond movie. Hell, my husband even has a spread sheet where we've rated each movie. Yes, we are nerds. Moving on...this was the only Bond film we both gave As too and I honestly think (looks aside) Craig is better than Connery. Ducks to avoid arrows being thrown at my head. That movie rocked. The action was incredible and nonstop. He just seemed like a badass. She was FINALLY a smart Bond chick adn the shower scene was incredibly sexy.

i went to see it with my mother and little brother and he was sooooo embarrassed, he was all, i'm never going to the movies with you two ever again because we couldn't stop making dirty comments about daniel craig throughout the whole thing. he was 15 at the time. i think we scarred him for life.

I just saw Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and I couldn't really get into him as Bond. The problem is we are comparing apples with oranges. The Connery Bond movies were state of the art action movies 30-40 years ago with all the clever gizmos and other special effects that were considered AMAZING at the time, eg digital watches LOL. Today's audience is more sophisticated and we take 'modern' innovations like mobile phones, satellite tracking/location, internet, etc etc totally for granted so it's not about the Bond gizmos any more, it's about the people and the plot which they have to pad out in terms of personality, human weakness, etc in order to grab our interest because we are so blase about stuff we used to say WOW about, eg digital watches LOL x 2
So it boils down to sex appeal - Connery is very sexy, Craig doesn't have the same 'naughty boy' element. Connery's Bond was a shit (women love shits) and Craig is too decent.

I've never used Blockbuster, but a one minute stop at their site says that this claim isn't quite true. You can get But I'm a Cheerleader, Better Than Chocolate, and even Queer as Folk. If you cut the smut from QAF, there's only, like, eight minutes of content per episode, max. We television viewers aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but I think we'd notice the lack of porn in our porn.

They may be yet another christian conglomerate like Curves or Chick-fil-A (who can kiss my lesbian ass), but Blockbuster doesn't seem to let that stop them from making money off same-sex smut. Homoerotic hypocrisy, yay!

I agree but think that Craig is the closest thing the series has had to a Connory-esque Bond in ages! I don't like a shit so his combination of old-fashioned masculinity and modern sensitivity was a good update, I thought. I don't think there will ever be anyone who can pull it off like Connery did. Part of that is because Connery is a shit to women himself and his were filmed during a different time period when it was okay for men to be men and macho etc, which can't help but be reflected in all aspects of the movie.

The only thing that didn't work for me at all was the little almost quickie with the woman at the beginning (chick with the big nose who ended up dead). That just didn't work at all.

The action sequences were fantastic! The opening sequence was very good. I have to say, I liked it a lot and will definitely see the next in the theater.

^^ I don't like a shit either and, frankly never got the Connery thing because of it. Something tells me Craig will turn into a shit in coming movies simply because they've set him up to be one with CR.
