^ I agree, don't know anybody's parents who would have approved of their children "living in sin," not in the '60s or well into the '70s, when people I knew did it. I'm surprised her mom didn't give her the old "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free" line.

I didn't get Joan's reaction to the news either, unless she was blowing smoke to make Peggy feel better about her decision. On the other hand, I can't see Joan doing that. Wouldn't she be more straightforward with Peggy? Joan is too practical not to consider the possibly dire social, familial, and business consequences Peggy was bound to suffer.

Joan is adjusting her attitude because of her own circumstances. She's coming to terms with being a divorced single mom. That wasn't ok either.

So, watched several hours of Mad Men this morning whilest lying in bed---great way to start Mothers Day by the way! Anyway, the first few episodes were from Season 1 and I hadn't seen them. Sooooo interesting to see how the show has changed, and the characters. Sal was in them---miss that dude. And Paul and a few others that have left.

Roger had 2 heart attacks in one of the episodes, which I never knew happene. AND I spotted that ridiculous chick that plays 'Flo' on the Progressive commercials. She was one of the secretaries at the firm.

I just need to start over some decade and watch each episode from the beginning. I cannot believe how much I have missed and never knew it!

Pete has always been creepy and socially inept to me.

On another note, Don's apartment is the absolute bomb! Fantastic setting.

Betty having food-gasm in the last scene was hilarious. She is so jealous of Don and Megan and she thought telling Sally about Don's first wife would wreak havoc, but her plan backfired.

Not sure what to think about Roger screwing Jane in her new apartment. Why is he never seen flirting with Joan? Did he just turn those feelings off?

Ginsberg soooo hates Don but Don doesn't give a rats ass. It was kind of shitty that he left that drawing in the cab though.

    Bitchy Betty is back.

Interesting episode, but again, didn't knock my socks off this time either. Keep waiting for something big to happen and then the episode ends and I am like.....well damn. Not that I hate the show, but I think I need some more action or something.

I'm starting to get very annoyed with what is beginning to look like a petty, personal vendetta assassination of Betty's character. Shit, I get why Weiner wouldn't like January Jones, but you don't eff up your own show to spite an actor. He's making Betty full-on pathetic and nasty to the degree that the audience can't possibly see a point in spending any scenes with her except to detest her and feel repulsed by her. Even her supposed good moments come off like a two-faced put-on. Not even Pete the rapist has gotten this kind of unbalanced treatment. She's not given any nuance except more nasty underneath. I mean damn, Weiner even took away her looks! She's not only fat, but she's shot in the worst light from the worst angles. That shit is unnecessary. Gahh, give Betty something interesting to do besides doing her level best to make us hate her.

Other than that, the episode didn't really give us much to chew on. Oh, maybe Don and Ginsberg's brewing animosity. I disagree Don doesn't give a rat's ass. He's jealous of Ginsberg's talent.

You MUST watch them ALL. I have been watching since first episode, and over-analyzing the crap outta them. When your rewatch the earlier seasons it shows just how brilliant Matt Wiener is - you see little hints of things that became important things later.

Eh - you prob know all that anyway - I just really think it is one of the most brilliant shows ever.

not a very interesting episode last night. I loved that Betty is jealous of Dons new life.

the Weight Watchers stuff was boring, but needed i guess. i'm happy Betty is back, but holy jebus, more Joan please!

Ginsburg annoys the shit out of me.

I'm not Betty's biggest fan but I was actually rooting for her in this episode. I didn't like the way Megan came off and I'm somewhat ok with Megan being in EVERY SINGLE BLODDY SCENE!! (No I'm not obviously LOL)

I don't like Ginsburg either, but I did love Peggy's smile in the background when they all found out Don presented his work and not Ginsburg. There's definitely something that's gonna happen with Stan and Peggy right? I'm just seeing something there.

Pete daydreaming about Rory Gilmore like that, I was expecting Luke and Lorelai to follow behind and drag her out of that office.

Gotta admit, it was nice too see Cooper featured a bit more and I LOVED Roger and Peggy's exchange in the elevator.

By the by, is this the last season of Mad Men?
