I love this show! I had missed the last few eps of the season, but I caught up this past Sunday when they had a marathon of the entire 1st season. How about the chick who went to the hospital for a stomach ache and ended up delivering a baby?! She thought the pill could not possibly let her down and didn't believe for a minute she could be pregnant.

I've wondered about that. If Peggy had taken the pills the doctor gave her, why did she get pregnant? Were BC pills of the early 60s more prone to failure?

I will have to rewatch. I can't remember if she went on the Pill before or after she shagged Peter Cambell (?) after his bucks night. They haven't really explored that part of the story, especially since he can't have kids with his wife. I find Peggy to be a very cold fish too but it's interesting to see how women really struggled to forge a career away from the typing pool in those days.

^^I THINK that she got BC pills and almost immediately screwed Pete....don't the pills take a few wks to 'kick in' or something? The GYN she saw however did not say that though...

That GYN was creepy. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the first episode takes place almost entirely over a single day. Peggy sees the "good" doctor on her lunch break. Pete, drunk from his bachelor party, comes to her door late that night. So, the pills hadn't had a chance to work.

Remember the era this happened. Even married women asking for birth control were regarded more or less as sluts; and as for UNmarried women having sex......

The gyno was a creep with disapproval and suspicion seeping from every pore, yet you can almost guarantee he was doing lucrative backstreet abortions for the women he didn't give the Pill to.

yeah they hadn't kicked in yet, it takes a month. Also side note, the pill in those days were extremely strong and not good for you. one of my grandma's sisters passed away from heart failure directly related to the pill (it was tested on puerto rican women before brought to the mass market) pretty sad and fucked up

they had a Season 2 marathon yesterday. I missed 2 episodes when i caught they were doing a marathon, but i still got to see the rest.

its the big build up to Season 4 July 25th.

Words cannot describe how fucking hot Jon Hamm is....at least to ME.

I simply cannot wait until Sunday for the new season. Heard some spoilers that are really out there, but I didn't see the last few episodes of the previous season, so what do I know?

As long as Jon is in it, I'll watch.
