You're welcome! I discovered that blog this season and have actually gone back to their writings on Season One. They pick up subtext I never would have, write about the symbolism, the actors choices for their characters. Always loved it, now I obsess about it.

I know Matt Weiner wrote for the Sopranos, but I never watched that series. Wonder if it was similar approach?

No and I won't until the series ends. I actually ordered all of them up to book 9 and sent them packing with my sister practically the moment they arrived so I wouldn't be tempted.

And thanks for the Basket of Kisses link, I am loving it over there!

Watching him leave Chauncey ws one of the saddest moments on the show. But Duck got his at the end of season 2.

Just watched January Jones on SNL. Wow, she's really not a good actress. SNL may regularly suck, but it sure exposes the actors with chops and those who can't act their way out of a paper bag. The Mad Men writing is so excellent and I think they made Betty very 1 dimensional for a few reasons...but truly, outside of the show, she's pretty bad. Now I'm kinda excited for the divorce so we can get a really great actress in there for Don. I want more spark like Joan/Roger!
...of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

^^Maybe they realized their mistake and are trying to get rid of January through the divorce. I used to make excuses for her acting, thinking it was due to Betty's personality, but you are right she's just not good at all. There are few opportunities for the writers to give Betty subtle nuances because January can't pull it off. And Yay for Joan/Roger! They are both great actors and the subtext of their scenes is so fascinating! They were made for each other.

This ep was so good…where to start.

I screamed with glee inside when Joan made her appearance…yay she’s back. She looked so good in her trousers and slimmer. I can’t wait for next season; I want to know what’s going on with her marriage.

So Betty finally grew a back bone and is leaving Don…wow I never thought that would happen. I feel sorry for Don; season four is going to be so interesting. Don a single man and Betty with her new man.

I loved all the office politics; can’t believe that they are starting their own agency. Don and Roger are finally ‘friends’ again. It’s interesting to see that the only staff members that the Don, Roger and the other guy (sorry forgot his name) trusted were: Betty, Pete (of all people), Harry and of course Joan.

I wonder how big this company will become. Most of the office staff got left behind…I wonder who’ll there’ll bring with them.

Anyway cannot wait for Season 3…BTW I loved that Don pushed for them to start a new company…brilliant. His private life is crazy…but he’s got a sharp brain.

Just wanted to add...i agree with the posters about Betty not asking for anything from Don. I bet she'll regret it. She just wants a man to look after her and can't imaging being independent. Come to think of it i don't trust that politician....i just hope he is good for Betty.

BTW i think that January Jones is a good actress. I didn't see SNL but i think she is good on Mad Men. I think thought that we won't be seeing much of her next season. Roll on 2010!

Yeah, she's been getting a lot of bad press for SNL, but live comedy is so completely different than what she does on Mad Men. She's definitely not versatile but I think she works on Mad Men and was great in the last two episodes, especially.

I am having Mad Men withdrawals!

I think January Jones can act, but she isn't as good as the rest of the cast.

January Jones was decent in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and the tv show Huff.
