Just wanted to comment on last weeks ep:

Best ep of the season. Loved the flashforwards. My first thought was what the hell is going on? I actually thought Betty was daydreaming about Don! :-0

Poor Peggy, Duck is using her and she doesn’t even know it. He is so sleazy and she is still naïve and insecure. No matter what you say about Joan her best qualities IMO opinion was her confidence. I hope she comes back.

As for Don and the Teacher, the minute he started looking at her (after his conversation with Carlton?) I knew he wanted to make a pass at her. Guess we will see him get a new mistress?

Betty IMO is definitely tempted by the man at the governer’s? Office. Maybe she will have her own affair. I actually liked Betty this ep and I normally can’t stand her.

I felt sorry for Don; loved that he was independent and didn’t have a contract with Stirling Cooper. I hope that they make him a partner and I can’t wait to see him battle it out with the Brit guy.

One last point. Everything on Mad Men looks so luscious. I love the way it’s filmed. It has a dream like quality to it.

Jezebel has a pretty good article on all the Mad Men rape, rape?, and "rape". On Mad Men, When Is It Rape? - Mad (wo)men - Jezebel

Good article. I had no idea there was a controversy over whether Joan got raped by her fiancee. People are freaks.

So apparently people use freakin' QUOTATION MARKS when referring to Joan's rape?

They deserve to be 'punched' in the 'face'.

There are also some very good articles on Slate under Arts/TV Club/Mad Men. Very nice to read smart people talking about a smart show. So depressed the season is more than half-way over.

    From the article linked above:

What happened with Pete and the flustered au pair? Let's say Bobbie Barrett truly enjoyed Don Draper molesting her and found it sexy. Plausible. Bobbie enjoyed Don in a sexual way. But that was not the dynamic between Pete and Gertrude.
She is distraught, he offers to find a solution to her problem. She accepts the dress he has exchanged with thanks. When Pete moves in initially for a kiss, she shakes her head and demurs, mentioning a boyfriend. Pete is rebuffed. He leaves. A little later, after a drink, he comes back, not taking no for an answer. Gertrude doesn't even want to let him in the house, but acquiesces before he makes a scene. She is a subordinate in the building, while Pete is an apartment owner and a peer to her employers. She consents only to trying on the dress - as she goes to try the dress on, Pete restrains her, closes the door, and forcibly kisses her. At this moment, Gertrude stands stiffly for a few moments before submitting.
But submission is not equivalent to consent, especially not with those kind of power dynamics going on.
We didn't have to see the end of the scene between Don and Betty to know that they slept together. Likewise, we don't have to see the end of the late night scene between Pete and Gertrude (or hear about the four boxes of tissues she went through) to know what happened was rape.

Pete is a complete assssssss. I've never liked him.

Thought last weeks ep was ok but slightly weird.

The only things l liked was Betty beginning an affair...i never thought i would see the day tbh. Kissing that man in the car park! I would never have thought she would risk it. I wonder if she will continue with this or not. We know she hates her life and she's never really been happy...we'll see.

As for Pete and the nanny. His neighbour is right. If you are going to cheat; do it WELL AWAY from home. He took a risk there...silly man.

Never thought i would see Joan again...so hurrah that she's working in a shop that Pete visited. I wonder if she will return to the office?

Tonight's episode was much better than last week.

That being said, I felt awful for Sal, especially when Don looked at him in disgust and said "you people". I wanted to slap him. I wonder where Sal was going when he told his wife he had to work late.

And Conrad Hilton is a fucking douche. I would have told him to shove the moon right up his ass.

Nice to see Sterling and Don in a scene together even though they weren't amicable.

It was horrible when Betty said that maybe this just wasn't the right time for civil rights. If I was the maid (can't remember her name) I would have smacked her one.

lol i had no idea how Conrad Hilton was, thats hilarious ^ the maid's name is Carla btw, yeah i felt bad for her, but it was wierd how she was all wierd with Betty about that guy coming over. But then i guess i forget this was a different time... so glad im not a woman in that era...or a non-white.....or a gay...... poor Sal!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg i felt the worse for him!

I thought it was interesting how Don and Betty showed their true colors a little bit- Betty doesn't think it's the right time for civil rights (Bitch! I don't know how Carla didn't just slap her) and Don with the 'you people' comment.

Poor Sal. Although it looks like the phone booth where he was calling was in a cruising zone, perhaps he'll get himself a little sumpin'sumpin'.

Sal and Joanie adrift in the void, I can't handle it!

And kudos to Betty for squashing her burgeoning affair and boo Don for starting another one. With that stupid teacher, urg.

And Conrad's stupid moon fetish, get over it dude.
