It was...rough. She was an alcoholic that had been left a large amount of money in a divorce settlement, so was able to not work and just spend her money on alcohol. She proceeded to overdose on Trazadone (a sedative), producers called the paramedics, she wouldn't let them touch her, then she passed out so they were allowed to. She spent a week in the hospital in intensive care, she had been in a coma, they were unsure if she was going to survive. While in the hospital she overheard a doctor talking about an intervention and decided she was going to skip town, so they moved the intervention early to surprise her, which resulted in a 5 hour standoff. She had kicked the crew out of her house, would only allow her cousin in, finally let someone from the treatment center in to talk to her after 4 hours, agreed to go after 5, but only if she could take her cat. Rode in a limo from Kansas to Florida, told the limo driver to turn around as soon as they got there, finally checked in, and then checked herself out 2 days later. Her family kept up their end of the intervention and haven't been in contact with her, but the update said she's still drinking and is now running out of money.

Did you feel sorry for her? I didn't, at all. She lives in the past and doesn't realize how fortunate she actually is. She's going to wake up one day with her liver shot, her money gone and think "What an idiot I was!"

I felt sorry for her because of the effects it had all had. The paranoia, the fact she was totally out of touch with any sort of reality, that kind of stuff. Of course it is of her own doing, but I think she's also too far gone to come back.

I feel bad for the families of these people. And I get so angry with the addicts for either not realizing or realizing but just plain not caring that they are hurting their families by their behavior. Why don't they think about how much pain their families or whoever cares for them will be in when they die? Selfish!!!
That's something I noticed about this show, in order for someone to allow themselves to be filmed for TV they have to be self-centered and craving attention to some degree. Some of them seem to have a need to dramatize their situation and like their victim status the show often gives them (Kim the anorexic seemed to be a prime example of this.) Are there any addicts who retain shame about what they're doing? I mean, if I were an addict, I would never in a million years let them film me, it's not something I'd want anyone to ever see!

^^Yes, I agree Beeyotch. The latest lady was a total attention whore. She even downed a handful of pills while they were filming. I got the impression that everything was a big game to her. She couldn't care less what her family was going through.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that while she was in the hospital recovering she kept saying she believed her mom had planted the trazadone in her drink. She kept saying she never took it willingly. She was a real piece of work.

Ah yes, it's always somebody else's fault. Classic victim mentality. I've had to stop watching this show in case I throw something through the TV screen one day. What a bunch of LOSERS. And the families/friends are often just as bad. They huff and puff at the pre-intervention meeting with the counsellor and then when it comes to the crunch they sit there like stunned mullets not saying anything at all or making some lame half-assed attempt to tell the addict they are not going to fund or support their lifestyle any more and you know damn well that 5 minutes after the cameras leave they will be enabling all over again. Grrrrr
PS - That 'banned' masterbation thing is SO a fake. LOL None of the actors can keep a straight face.

^^yeah, it's like the interventionees are addicted to their addiction, and they enablers have their own addiction as well, enabling.

OMG, I am watching this right now about the PTA mom who is an alcoholic. I can hardly stand to watch it, her poor kids. I am close to tears seeing them having to watch their mother pissed out of her mind.

yeah that is so sad I really think her kids will be messed up permenantly unfort. just like her brain due to all the dead brain cells alcohol kills.
what i've learned from this show is that family patterns repeat themselves, these families are always in denial, and these addicts are always making excuses for themselves (oh this and that happened to me so i drink too much) - well a lot of shit happened to me too but i dont abuse shit.
I understand they are diseases though, and alcoholism runs in my family but after seeing this show so many times; im just sick of hearing their excuses. they always have them it seems!
btw the lady on this show tonite is a bitch for treating her husband like that and puking in front of her kids and even being around them when she's like that! its terrible!!
