They just piss me off because I see spectacular houses for a quarter mil when a small little condo here costs triple that. It's frustrating and I don't know why I watch because it just ends up depressing me

I'm in CT, where a 2 bedroom ranch with barely any property at all can go for 400,000. I hate watching them go to cheaper states (like Texas) where, for the same amount of money, they can get a huge friggin house with, like, an acre of land.

I get the same way. Drives me crazy and makes me want to pack up and go to these little towns. The people really piss me off sometimes. They are so unrealistic with their budgets and what they can get for the money.

For $250k, you can get a very nice, big house here. For 500k, you can have a very nice mansion. Or a whole ranch + houses.

I know! I see young couple buying an enlarged closet for mega bucks and it is heart breaking, knowing that if they were just here...on the minus side, 107 was our average temp for 70 days this summer! I don't know what is worse.

Bumping thread because I'm watching a 2017 episode of HH, and had never heard someone describe themselves as a 'stay at home mom of a cat and a dog'...

Well, that's fancy. I bet she also wanted all stainless and granite even though they are both 22.

They were actually older than their 20's (husband was a child psychologist). I can't imagine not having a job outside the home if I didn't have kids, I imagine she must have had a career (or at least a job) before she got married.

I didn't work for close to 9 years, but I was a mom and that's a full time job....it just doesn't pay. I can't imagine not working while not having kids. I guess your house would always be perfectly clean

Maybe her earnings would push them into a higher tax bracket and she'd work just to pay taxes. If that's the case it might make more sense for her to take care of all the domestic stuff so they can enjoy his time off without having to do chores and run errands.
