Good episode. Battle scenes bore me to tears, but the rest was awesome.

Any takers on the next week 'Cersei burns King's Landing to the ground with Aerys' wildfyre caches' theory? (They did make mention of the wildfyre in the 'previously on GoT' intro, and in the episode too).

The guy that directed last night also directed the finale (and Hardhome) so I have high expectations.

^And didn't one of Bran's visions show a huge green flash in that underground storage place where Tyrion saw all the jars of it before the Blackwater?

I am on my fourth re-watch. I watched it live, then on +2 before work. When I got home it was on again, now I'm watching +2 again. It doesn't get any less fucking awesome each time. My new favourite part "You're going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well". I think I'm going to make that my new sig.

At one point, I actually thought they were going to have Ramsay's troops totally extinguish Jon Snow's. I was so prepared to just post a simple message here saying, "F*ck this"

I saw the wildfyre theory and it looks as legit as anything else (lots of foreshadowing). Especially because Tommen banned trial by combat. Don't tell me that all that zombie Clegane was good for was killing that one Sept guy - that is kind of anticlimactic.

The other thing that makes me think they may do the wildfyre thing was that last night's episode was just incredible. Where do you go from there, except an episode where everything is on fire?

Hey, related to that, didn't Cersei ask her mad scientist guy about the existence/amount of something and he said "plenty"? If so, wasn't that a reference to the wildfyre inventory?

^Last week they had a mysterious conversation about "that old rumour" and Qyburn's little birds had investigated and it was "more, much more". The general consensus is they're talking about wildfire. Also, in the books SLIGHT SPOILER Cersei burns down the Tower of the Hand in an earlier book so she obviously likes a good blaze.

The battle was epic. Reminded me a bit of Saving Private Ryan. The choreography when Jon was in battle was fantastic. It must have taken many days to film all that.So happy to see Ramsey get his karma and Sansa & the dogs being the ones giving it to him. One of the best episodes ever.

^The battle took 25 days to film. Just watched that scene again - holy shit, the horses! They just rear and fall over within inches of Jon. It's incredible. There might be some CGI involved but it's flawless.

I agree with that. Also, I haven't had a chance to watch the episode again, but our cable provider plays reruns of it all week, including in the morning. The kids roll their eyes and go, "Are you watching that for like the 4th time?" It's going to be a great week seeing that come on over and over.

i thought when cersei asked that dude that brought mountain back to life if rumor was true was about the tyrells being involved with joffreys death.
so there is another rumor she was asking about?

Yes, about the wildfire rumoured to be stashed under the Great Sept and various other convenient locations.

Congratulations 2016, you finally got one right!

eta: loved the episode but definitely not the best ever. I know that seems a popular opinion right now and I could write a manifesto, but in short: predictable, cheap plot tropes and Daenerys is fucking boring. Sorry.

People are complaining all over reddit "that's not how it happens in the books!" Umm, the books that haven't been written yet? Nobody knows how it goes down, but because they didn't follow the accepted fan theories then it's cheap and cliched.

I am still pumped to the max about it and psyched for next week!
