They're the only direwolves south of the wall, but I'm not buying the "swapped out giant wolf's head for average sized wolf's head" conspiracy theories. Likewise Mo, I know you want Rickon to be a fake, but it's the same actor playing him. I really don't think they'd get the kid to return after nearly four seasons just to play an imposter.

I'm actually really anxious about Ramsay doing his dirty shit to Rickon. The thought makes my tummy ache. He was just a baby the last time we saw him.

He's a true sadist and all he needs is just enough of Rickon to be worth trading back to Sansa.

Rickon in the books was only 3 at the beginning of AGOT and went off to Cannibal Island in ACOK I think, so he would have been 4 or 5. When he comes back he's going to have seen a LOT of bad shit for a 6 year old.

I've read a spoiler about episode 9, and - no, I'm not going to spoil it. Unless you beg.

I think it's the real Rickon and the point is winning Ramsay's trust to get close and then kill him and rally around the youngest Stark. The North doesn't want a psychotic monster leading it!

I admit it, I'm grasping at straws I'm just so sick of show Ramsay. He's making me miss Joffry.
What if Superman is psychotic and everyone can see that he's Clark Kent but they just play along not to set him off?

If that was the plan, it was a pretty shitty one if it involved Osha risking her life on the off chance Ramsay would leave one of his apple-flaying knives lying around, and Rickon locked in a dungeon at the mercy of the North's biggest freak.

I think (in the books anyway) there's a parallel between the Stark kids and their direwolves and even how they die. When Lady died, part of Sansa's dream of gallant princes and chivalry died too, and she was the first one to be separated from her family. Grey Wind died fighting at the RW, and Nymeria is building up a giant wolf pack in the Riverlands, while Arya is building up a shitload of assassin skills to come back and cause some havoc. But she has to find her pack because "the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives".

If the show is following the future books, then Shaggydog died a pointless death (kind of like a shaggy dog story) so it's not looking good for Rickon. Ghost belongs to a dead man risen, and Summer's death marked the coming of Winter.

The opening sequence was awesome, and they snuck it in before the credits because of its huge reveal.

I loved this episode. Lyanna Mormont is a badass. So is the Blackfish. And so is Margaery in her own way.

Al Swearengen! Didn't say cocksucker once.

    I'm very worried about Arya.

eta Almost forgot Theon! He was amazing in that scene. For the first time you could tell it was Theon Greyjoy behind those eyes, not some cowed pathetic creature. I didn't realise how great Alfie Allen had been playing Reek until he wasn't anymore.

I LOVED that little kid playing Lyanna - awesome. Blackfish, who I barely recognize (I guess because I started watching around the time of the Red Wedding), looks like more than a match Jaime. I didn't understand the symbol at all that was past to Olenna. Some kind of flower. It almost looked like the TAFKAP symbol to me.

I guess it was in the books, but it was kind of amusing to see Yara turn out to be a lusty, carousing lesbian. It was a great, expressive performance by Theon Greyjoy. I guess he is going to pull himself out of his trauma.

The rose Margaery gave to Olenna was the sigil of House Tyrell. It was her way of telling her grandmother that she hasn't forgotten who she is and where her loyalty lies.

In the books Yara is called Asha (they changed her name because it sounded too much like Osha) and she likes to shag but only men so far.

I hope not! Much as I love hype, I don't think it will happen and I'm not sure I want to see it. I hate the whole zombie Mountain/Robert Strong storyline. I'm just glad Sandor is back.

The Queen of the Thorns...the only Queen that matters. She was great last night.
