Can someone tell me who really did the poisoning?

I understand now why everyone was looking forward to this episode.

    SPOILERS AHEAD

in the books it's Olenna Tyrell - but it's revealed the whole thing was masterminded by Littlefinger (who's out of town wooing Lysa Arryn). They set Sansa up with a jewelled hairnet (the necklace on the show) and you see Olenna fiddle with Sansa's hair and necklace - that's when she takes the jewel and slips it into the cup.

I've been trying to catch up to this show even though I don't have a full weekend to do it. It's going to have to be piecemeal.

Anyway, watching Joffrey's character behave abominably while everybody in his family - including freaking Tywin - looks around uncomfortably - has been torture.

I would love to see Ramsay experience a slow, miserable death. At first, it looked like maybe it will be at the hands of Theon's sister, but Ramsay is leaving the kingdom to look for Jon Snow, which means Ramsay (and Theon) won't even be there by the time she arrives?

last night's episode showed a second character (bran) having a vision of ice and SNOW in the iron throne room (daenarys was the first). foreshadowing?

I have a question - Is Ramsay Snow actually related to Jon Snow?

^ I can't tell if you're being a wiseass, but no, in the north all bastards are given the surname Snow. In Dorne they're all Sand, etc.

Yeah, good question, at some point it sounded to me that Snow is what all bastard children might be named...

And I rejoiced greatly when Joffrey got got (The Wire reference lives on for me). I do wish he could have suffered more and that someone had the satisfaction of openly telling him what an insufferable anal wart on humanity he is.

*eta--posted too slow. (I seriously didn't catch that Snow thing until this last episode. I feel like I need Cliff's notes for this show. Like Pop-Up Video style, remember that?)

My son basically said the same thing over the weekend. He said I joke around too much, and he doesn't know when to believe me sometimes. I've got to knock that off.

Anyway, I heard the word "bastard" mentioned like 50 times in the three episodes I saw last night, but didn't know it also had a connection to last names.

On a related note, someone once told me that the Irish last name prefix "Fitz" meant "illegitimate son of". So, when some rich landholder in old Britain, with the last name "Gerald" had a child out of wedlock, he would send him to Ireland and the child would take the last name "Fitzgerald".

That is how I understood the Fitz thing too.

I hope the uncle will get out of this alive...

And Fitzroy means a king's bastard.

in Westeros they have regional bastard names:

Snow = the North; Stone = the Vale (the Eyrie where Lysa Arryn is); Waters = King's Landing and the area around Blackwater Bay; Rivers = the Riverlands; Sand = Dorne; Flowers = the Reach (Highgarden); Hill = the West (Casterly Rock/Lannister country - there's gold in them thar hills); Pyke = Iron Islands (their main island is called Pyke).

it doesn't seem as important in the show but in the books there are bastards popping up all the time and the names help pinpoint them geographically so you know who they're loyal too. And it's interesting to see how differently they're treated, as they're always suspected of being treacherous.
