Cliff sounds like he forgot to put his teeth in.

I missed the first couple of episodes, so I'm at a bit of a loss here. Why is Southfork being sold and why is Bobby so blase about it? Southfork is a huge piece of the family history. Why isn't he fighting to keep it? If I recall correctly, Bobby was always more passionate about the ranch than JR (whose big love was Ewing Oil). Now it's like he couldn't care less. I don't get it.

In the first episode they revealed that Bobby has some sort of stomach cancer. He wanted to sell the ranch so that Christopher and John Ross wouldn't fight over it. John Ross also discovered that there's a ton of oil on the ranch and wanted to drill it. After Bobby realized that John Ross wanted to drill on Southfork and that Christopher wanted to try and run the ranch, he took Southfork off the market. The problem was that J.R. had gotten wind of the sale and wanted to set up a front to buy the ranch for him so he could get his own hands on it. That's what he's wheeling and dealing and backstabbing to get done now. In the meantime, John Ross told Bobby that if the ranch didn't go back on the market, he would reveal Miss Ellie's journal that said she had mental problems of some sort. He said he'd use it to suggest she wasn't in her right mind when she wrote her will. I'm not sure if what I'm writing is making sense, but that's the gist, I think.

Okay, thanks. I went over to IMDB to catch up. It said that John Ross is a wildcatter looking to strike it rich on his own. Is there still a Ewing Oil? I haven't seen any mention of that yet and no one on the show seems to be working there, unless I'm just out to lunch.

I think J.R. lost Ewing Oil to Cliff when the series went off the air? I can't remember that part well, but I think that's what happened.

It's too bad we don't have Dallas on Netflix. I'd go and watch the final season. I guess I'll have to check out the original series on IMDB because I don't remember what happened at the end either.

    From IMDB:

In the pilot, John Ross mentions that Ewing Oil was lost to Cliff Barnes. However, the latest episode, where Cliff showed up, had no indication that he's in the oil business. In fact, it's mentioned that he's been away for years.

From what I remember of how the original show ended, Cliff wanted Ewing Oil as revenge for what was done to his father. I doubt that after fighting for so long to claim Ewing Oil he would just sell it off, rather than hold it to always bother the Ewings.

    Response:

Cliff sold Ewing Oil back to Bobby & Sue Ellen in the first reunion movie, however so far it appears they are not considering the two reunion films as Canon.

JR pulling the rug out from under Bobby ... yet again. You'd think after all these years Bobby would get a friggin' clue.

I loved when JR said to Bobby's wife to get a bigger imagination when she had told him never in her imagination could JR have stooped that low.

JR always knows the right thing to say.

I don't like the new interior of Southfork. The rooms all look so small. My house seems like a mansion in comparison.

I noticed that the rooms seen different. They used to do most of their backbiting in that living room area off the main staircase that had Jock's huge painting in it, and they haven't gone in there yet.
