I love this movie. Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation are a must at my house during the holidays.

Happy trails to you...until we meet again.
I love & miss you Dad.

    Oh hell yes.

Though I enjoy Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation is hands down my favorite

Y'all probably know this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway: Jean Shepherd, who wrote the novel, as well as the screenplay for A Christmas Story, is also the narrator and the man in the Santa line. He died in 1999, and I remember being so sad about that.

I freakin' love this movie with all my heart but yes, I gotta go with MrsDark...Christmas Vacation is seriously the funniest movie ever.

I finally bought Christmas Vacation on DVD because for years NBC was the only station that would show it, and they'd only play it like once the week before Christmas and I'd always miss it.

AMC has been playing the hell out of it this year, though. In fact, they're playing twice tonight starting at 7 p.m. CST.

Lordy! This is my favorite movie EVER. I watch parts of it for the entire 24 hours its on for the 24 hours of A Christmas Story. It has to be on when we're opening gifts Christmas morning. I have to wrap my last minute gifts to it Christmas Eve.

Bad Santa is second to this as my favorite Christmas movie.

And we watched it again tonight. Can't get enough of it. Love the father's swearing. Love it with the lamp. Love it with the turkey. Love it with Scott farkel (yellow eyes!). Will probably watch it several more times before Christmas.
    A. Me and my kiddo watched it today too.... my kid looks just like Ralphie - especially now that he's got glasses.

    C. I have the whole set of ornaments from that movie (the lamp, the radio, Fragile box...) and my kiddo's stocking is a Christmas Story themed one.

I saw it in the theater when it first came out. A friend of mine told me to go see it. I was in my 20s and spending my first Christmas away from home. It wasn't very popular and the theater was almost empty. I loved it instantly, and related so much to Ralphie--especially since I had a very gruff father who swore like the bejeesus. Those scenes where Ralphie is lying in bed day-dreaming, the way you'd get so excited about Christmas when you were a kid...It was the first movie that made me remember what it felt like to be a kid at Christmas.

A couple of years later before it was on TV all the time I persuaded my siblings to rent it, and we made it a Christmas eve tradition. I was so happy when it finally got the love it deserved.

Scott Farkus, of course! I wrote that under the wine influence. Really must cut back. May have to watch this movie again today.
