yeah, she was only 19 or 20. Pretty shitty of him to fuck such a young girl.

This is the shot I keep telling everyone about. The redhead on Monica's left is a girl I used to work with.

I missed this post - thank you

Re: Monica, I remember the Diane Sawyer interview when she talked about them having phone sex. Diane was all "what's that?" and Monica's face lit up like she just got a Ferrari for Christmas and told her she should try it, "it's FUN!" What a doofus.

But the most unfortunate thing about that interview, IMO, was Monica's choice of hairstyle. She has incredible hair - thick, shiny, gorgeous color - and she chose to mold it like a helmet and then spray it stiff.

I always felt for her too. It's horrible to have a stupid blow job that you gave at 19 be the defining moment in your life.

It's not just the blow jobs. She thought she was going to be the next Mrs. Clinton! So, so dumb as TLC would say.

She was young and overwhelmed by him. I guess you've have never been led on by a man or believed something they told you only to find out it is a lie. It must be nice to only be involved with people who love you, treat you with complete honesty and never betray you.

^ Exactly. I'll cut a 19 year old plenty of slack in that area.

He should have picked someone older and more jaded who didn't have daddy issues (though I'm sure he f__ed plenty of those as well).

Though it's worth noting that Monica had already had an affair with a married teacher while in high school. She was no innocent, but I agree that it's sad that the BJs for BC have basically dominated the rest of her life.

A teen girl having a relationship with a married teacher is a clear sign she has issues. Bill took it to a whole new level. I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted anyone to do that to his daughter.

I liked him as a Pres and believe he a great leader. He just needed to keep his dick in check.

I'm going to call you out on this because you often personalize issues. I have no idea why.

Because it sometimes come off as if you have had a very blessed life and haven't experienced the harsh realities that others may face. It would make your perspective different.

meh, i just can't judge a 19 old that harsh on this. I've seen a lot of smarter and more experienced heads than hers turned by powerful men, or by what they thought was love or whatever. If you can't be stupid at 19, well....

    Yes, exactly.

I didn't think her age was the defining point, just an unfortunate aspect of things. It looked like they actually really dug each other, and it didn't seem cynical at all to me, on either end. Kind of sad, really.

    THIS times a thousand.

The only administration in my entire fucking lifetime that I actually somewhat liked. sigh. I never thought Bill OR Hillary were perfect in any way; I know they both lied about shit and had skeletons in their closets. But even their enemies seemed to respect them. I respected them. I can't say the same for anyone we've had since. There's always something 'off'. I do think this country is in decline and our choices in leadership reflect that.

(And it is insane the way we obsess about who our Presidents fuck. I could not possibly care less. It bugs me that this documentary devotes a whole hour to it. Jeezus.)

My husband used to work in law enforcement in Southern CA. He once met Bill Clinton, and the funny thing is, my husband--a straight, mostly Republican male from a traditional military family background-was astonished by Clinton's warmth and charisma. He told me "if he'd been running I would've voted for him based on that one brief meeting. He has incredible force of personality and he focuses it all on YOU and it completely does not feel fake or forced. And he gives off this sense (true or not) that he really is a remarkable individual. It's fascinating."

The hubby also met Monica Lewinsky, years later when he was working in private security. He told me she was very soft-spoken, shy and sweet, one of the nicer clients he ever dealt with. He says she also was prettier in person--chunky but with lovely skin and hair.

I wonder how she's doing these days...

Both of these. She made a mistake at 19 that will haunt her forever. People remember him for a lot of other things other than this affair, but she's not and will never be.
