Is this supposed to be a summer series with the Mercury wives and then go to Gemini and the Apollo wives next year? I hope it continues. I'd love to see Neil Armstrong and his wife Janet, as the 60's progress but I'll miss those pretty clothes of the late '50's and early '60's.

I don't know, but that sounds like a good plan to me!

I read that the last episode of Astronaut Wives "rockets in the ratings" apparently not just the past episode but the two before it both climbed in the ratings, so it looks good for a season 2! I think it's just a summer series though but I'll take it.

I'm loving this show. I'm up to episode four and can't wait to catch up.

I forgot about this and watched two episodes. Going to catch up on Hulu after work tonight. I really like it and I too hope they do another about the others.

I'm still loving it too. There's a whole Facebook group for fans of the book and the show and it's quite interesting. People are posting stuff and pictures about the real astronauts and their wives and several people that are extras and/or have bit parts on the show have joined the group.

This past episode was really sad with three different astronaut deaths but Gus and Betty Grissom were my favorite couple and even though I knew their fate, it was still really sad to see it on screen. I wonder if it will play into next week or if they're rapidly going forward and doing the whole space program, with the last episode being the moon landing, that would be depressing as I was hoping for a couple seasons out of this show.
I think I mentioned before how on Previously.Tv forums someone brought up Gus Grissom's fate in a thread and they were yelled at by a moderator for spoilers, it was so ridiculous If you wanted to discuss the moon landing or anything that wasn't in that particular episode who had to go in the spoiler thread!

I finally looked up Zoe Boyle who plays Jo Schirra (the blonde wife who always has a cigarette) because I couldn't figure out where I've seen her before and I see that she was that insipid Lavinia from Downton Abbey! She doesn't a great accent though, I never would have guessed she wasn't from the U.S.

I hope we do get into the Gemini and Apollo missions with other seasons (hopefully!) but I'll miss these ladies after the final two episodes. I really liked Betty Grissom, Trudy Cooper and Marge Slayton and loved Louise Shepherd's auburn bob and beautiful dresses.

I really hope the show continues. I'd like to see shepherd get his ear fixed and back into space. There's more story to tell.

It's starting to get sad now. The Apollo 1 tragedy just happened last week and they show their funerals on tomorrow nights episode. Only 3 episodes left.

So I guess this series was a one-off? It seems like they'll end with the moon landing next week, so no point in going on to other seasons.
I loved how they gave each of the Mercury wives their own episode of the show in the beginning of the series but the Gemini and Apollo wives have only been given a few minutes here and there. It's really annoying because I would have liked to see Neil Armstrong (have we even met him yet on the show?) his wife Janet and the wives associated with those missions but we're already after RFK's assassination, so that's mostly behind us now.
I couldn't even feel much for the divorce with the Eisley astronaut wife, I felt sorry for her and her being stuck with a dick for a husband but we didn't even get a chance to really know her, they're just throwing wives at us now and I can't even remember their names!

I was interested in finding out about the Schirra's. I was surprised to see that Jo Schirra just died this year, since she's always depicted with a cigarette on the show but she lived to be 91. I also looked up what happened to the son who didn't go into the service but instead went to Standford, well that was a mistake. They should have let him go to Vietnam and hopefully get killed there since he was arrested at an airport getting on a plane to Thailand with pictures of young boys, candy, sex enhancement drugs and condoms in his suitcase. They later found child porn on his computers and he was sentenced to a few years in prison.
Both his parents were said to be devastated by the discovery and his father blamed himself for not being home enough for his son as a child. (As if that would have made a difference) It's sad though, when you're a national hero and your namesake is a disgusting pedophile.

This show has been great all summer. My daughter is a history nut and has loved it too. We even watched Apollo 13 because she was interested finally.

ETA - yahoo had a story the other day about reporting that he saw UFOs while flying planes. The story led to this site:

If anyone's interested, there's a website called "Collect Space" that's all about space history. They did a review of each episode of "Astronaut's Wives Club" and would tell you if something was accurate or not. A lot of what was seen was accurate they said but some of it was moved around in the timeline. I liked knowing that the Betty Grissom did cut a hole in the fence so she could go to Jo Schirra's house without having to be seen by tourists and reporters. Fun little tidbits like that in there.
