Well he really set the bar high. Idol was previously people holding a microphone on stage and you expected that. He got up there and changed the game and heightened expectations. Now everyone's expecting to be blown away by a performer again... and it's not going to happen.

And, we can't forget David Cook. He was also awesome.

it is after all, a visual competition isnt it?
    Thanks MsDeb.

Is it a visual competition? Well, I remember times watching it with my hands over my ears, so....Hey, I'll take cute every time.

Cook was awesome even though I preferred Archie. That was the best season of Idol ever.

That said, I think Adam Lambert is by far the most entertaining contestant ever on the show. He's kind of killed it for me. I think that's part of the problem this season. The bar has been raised and people are expecting to not only hear a good song, but be entertained. Even if you weren't a fan of Adam's during the show, you were probably anticipating what he might do. He truly was the whole package from his song selection, to his stage set up to his style of dress, hairstyle and make up choices. Everything was so carefully thought out.

    Completely underwhelmed tonight.

I'm a Didi fan but she was awful.

Not that I would have anyway, but I can never vote for Garcia on the grounds that his mother wears zebra stripes.

Highlight of the night was Simon's comments re: Tim aka Peter Brady aka Jim Carey's The Mask.

Of course Lee, I was surprised with his performance. He was great.

I think Usher was a better mentor for them (compared to Miley) But I was getting annoyed with his sun glasses.

American Idol is master class compared to the German Idol version

Like Adam Lambert last season, I think people are expecting that Crystal will win. I'm still betting on Lee. He's pretty amazing. And I love how he has no idea how good he really is. It's refreshing.

I finally just got around to watching the shows from last night and last week. Based on all the comments, I considered just deleting them from the DVR without watching them but now I'm glad I didn't.

I didn't really like much from last week except for Didi but THIS week - wow! I loved Lee, Michael, Crystal, Casey...and Andrew! He finally reminded me why I've loved him since the beginning. I liked him based on YouTube videos of his pre-Idol performances and that's what he reminded me of this week. There's something about his voice and style that I really like and he was back to that. I think I'm seriously in the minority on that one, though.

I'm kind of over Siobhan. Aaron keeps surprising me with how good a singer he is. And Katie still irritates me even though I can acknowledge that she has a good voice.

Tim's eyes were freaking me out this week. He was trying so hard to look intense but he just looked either terrified or hypnotized.
