^^ He was really good!
His voice (in that song) kind of sounded like Hootie and the Blowfish to me.

I hope David A doesn't take David C's title; I think David C's voice is more unusual and it gives me chills. We already have Archuleta's in the world. But David A has such a huge following.
Mrs v, where did you download the song? I want it!

E usually means ecstacy, so that's interesting.
Just watched the performance and the elimination episodes together, have to say hahahaha Mariah Carey... what century does she think she's currently residing in? She was standing poised at the piano like she was Mommy Dearest doing a press release back in the day. "Oh, I'm so glad." I just saw fake fake fake. And wow, the tension between her and Sayeshia. Nightmarish. I could feel the hairs on their back sticking up. "Oh I love you, let's hug like we're best friends!"
"Okay sweetness!"
"Mmmm."
"Mmmm!"
*cat fight ensues*
I like Brooke. But now I am quite concerned that she's not that nice in real life. People like that do exist you know...

I always thought David A. had this in the bag and he still might. That said, David C. has really picked up the past 3 weeks and will definitely give him a run for his money. I can't see anything other than a David A/C finale. The other 4 just aren't strong enough nor do they have the fanbases either of these guys do.
I would love to grab David A., shake him and plead with him to pick up the tempo. Like many, I'm a bit tired of the preachy ballad songs and its lost him some fans the past few weeks. The kid has it in him and if he continues as he is, it's his to lose. A 'family friend' assures us that faster songs 'are coming', but he needs to bring them NOW!
Listening, though, to those who know him, he's completely oblivious to his popularity (and - thank God - to all the hysteria around his Dad) and doesn't view this as a competition. He simply wants to perform. He truly expects he's leaving each week so, if he were to leave early, it probably wouldn't bother him as much as it would bother some of us. Perhaps it is for the best that David C. gets this. Runner up is not a bad spot to be in and I really believe David A. would be fine with that. Me, on the other hand, I'm still hoping he wins.
I have to give the kid credit though. Some may disagree, but I think he's handled all of this wonderfully. Some think he's fragile, but I believe he's a lot stronger than some give him credit for. He certainly handles the judges' criticism better than any other contestant.....one in particular (I'm looking at you Brooke!)
Here's a song David A. co-wrote at age 10 that's making rounds on the internet. I thought it was quite telling, but I don't believe his father is anything other than a very strict disciplinarian.

When he's not performing, he looks frightened to death. When Ryan did the 'pick the side you think is safe' game, I felt sorry for him. He's the last contestant he should do that to!
I will be happy to see either David's win, and I'm sure that'll be the case, but David C is more my kind of singer. The judges keep saying he could put an album tommorow, and I agree. He's got it, he is it. No work needs to done. David A has big time confidence issues.
Just listened to 'Don't Tell Me'; is that him singing?

David A has conducted himself with a maturity and humility (?) way beyond his years, especially as he does have a God given talent. However, if he doesn't win in the final showdown between him and David C (and that's what it will be) then I fear for his safety with Daddy Dearest.

I agree. To me he actually seemed a lot more confident at the beginning of the competition.

Yup - it is. I believe he's 10/11 then. Not bad at all. The lyrics are a bit spooky though. He seem's a bit defiant.
I don’t need you to tell me how to sing my song
I don’t need you to be there yellin’ all night long
It seems you always make it way too rough on me.
Why can’t I be what I want to be?
I’m just movin’ and groovin’
My own life I’m choosin’
No one stand in my way
I do as I may

That was painful to watch and he didn't seem too pleased about it. I really believe he knew exactly what was going to happen before it did. The girls in the front row were encouraging him to sit so he had a perfect 'out'. I thought he handled himself pretty well given the circumstances. He was confused, but I don't think he was completely naive about it.

It's hard to know what to believe, isn't it? I just hope that TPTB don't think that his Dad's too difficult to deal with and are fixing for a David Cook win. I use the term 'fixing' loosely. If David Cook won it would be a legitimate win, I'm sure, as he's that good. I just mean I hope they don't punish David A. in an effort to make a point to his father. That said, perhaps that's exactly what needs to happen.

The $$ came from his Star Search win. He immediately gave $10,000 to his church (tithing?) and apparently the remainder was invested for College, etc.

Tonight-Andrew Lloyd Webber:
Syesha Mercado -- "One Rock & Roll Too Many" from Starlight Express
David Cook -- "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera
Carly Smithson -- "Jesus Christ Superstar"
Brooke White -- "You Must Love Me" from the film adaptation of "Evita"
Jason Castro -- "Memory" from Cats. lol.
David Archuleta -- "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera.

I'm um, concerned for tonight. Memory is probably my least favorite showtune ever, and it's going to hurt me to see those songs from Phantom and Evita butchered (since David Cook will have to rock it up and Brooke is no Patti Lupone).
