Me too. that's when I prefer to "bond" with a few of the contestants and root for them.
On another note: have seen some AI coverage on TVGuide channel, Carrie Underwood has really improved her stage presence, wow. You can actually feel something now, while listening to that great voice.

I agree that they spent too much time on the contestants. Especially when that girl couldn't remember the words to "Kiss". It went on and on, I wanted to pull my hair out! OK, we get it, get rid of her!!
And was anyone as distracted as I was by Paula?! It was obvious from the first time they showed her that she was hammered or something. She was drinking from that cup everytime they showed her, and hardly said two words. I heard she was in a fued with Jewel, but that doesn't explain her strange behaviour. She looked like she was having trouble staying awake, she just sat and looked down at the table half of the time. I wish they'd get rid of her. It's the same thing every season.

^^I think Paula is REALLY out of it this season. On some of the contestants, they didn't even bother getting her opinion whatsoever. Simon would start it out, and then he'd say "Jewel?" totally skipping over Paula until it was time for Yes/No. There's no way you can tell me that she's not either high or drunk. Especially not after seeing her in that interview.

I caught the end of it last night, and what I saw was a lot of 'theatrics' from the contestants. I find that increases every year cos these kids know they'll appear on tv if they act odd or cartoonish enough.

That was the best part about the whole thing. These just aren't funny anymore though. So many of them are obviously plants or doing it b/c they know they'll get TV time.

The guy singing Open Arms sounds kind of like Clay Aiken. He has that same very broadway quality to his voice.
Looks like Paula needed some chemical help for day 2. Considerably more drugged than earlier in the episode...
