I love singing along to Shania songs

I didn't notice that Mandisa's was faster or slower that Shania's, but it sounded like she wasn't with the band. She was always ahead of them or behind them. I wonder if it's hard to hear or something.

Most performers wear ear pieces, but the contestants don't. I mean, they probably can't, like it's not an option. But I wonder how much of a difference that makes.

It can make a big difference. That hall is huge, the music is gonna bounce around like crazy. Being someone who has performed in orchestras for theater and concert bands, if you are performing without ear pieces, you MUST know the piece like the back of your hand, because you can't rely on anything you hear. By the time you hear it, it's bounced off of every rafter in the place.

The craziest thing I've ever heard was when I performed in the St. Michaelis Cathedral in Hamburg, Germany (musical cultural exchange), there was a full 3 second delay between you playing and when you heard it.

Maybe it sounded fast to me because the arrangement was so BUSY.

lol, that it was. I feel for them if they aren't wearing ear pieces. That's rough, I've played in more than my fair share of concerts where there was phasing across the band (one side of the band in a different place than the other side) because of the ricochet factor. It's hard, and it's hard to get back on, especially if there's no conductor to look at.

Yeah, if you start out offkey or off the beat, you're pretty much screwed for the entire song.

    Kellie - liked it

    Chris - liked it

Katherine - never liked that song, but she did it well

    Bucky - pretty good
What happened to Ace? I know it was very forgettable. I was amazed by Chris's preformace. I was very very good. So he doesnt have to sing fast and loud songs all the time. I personally was disappointed with Kellie's singing figured she and Bucky would have nailed it this week. Chris and Elliott did a wonderful job

I just don't get why they need to do a country night. Isn't that the whole point of the Nashville Star show? You know American Idol will never do a punk night, or a rock night. That's why I at least liked Rockstar: INXS. Their songs were way better.

I did forget Ace, didn't I. Simon said he was boring, and at the time I disagreed, but hmm. I can't remember much about him except that there weren't any horrible notes, it sounded pleasant throughout, and he did NOT reach for the camera at the end.

I loved Ace. I don't think he should go tonight, he definitely wasn't the worst.

I don't care if he sang it the exact same way... I kind of don't like when these nobodys chage up a song and 'make it their own'... who the fuck are they to change a popular artist's song and make it their own anyway? It's pretentious.
I don't care to see a bad imitation of Keith Urban. I'd rather just watching the real Keith

Chris is definitely going to win. He did exactly what Simon and the producers wanted: conform. They told him to do a slow song, he did. He's very easily controlled, and that move last night made him even more marketable. I'd bet money that his cd won't have one "rock" song on it.

I think Katherine is going to win. Just a feeling.

I just grabbed the DialIdol.com results:

    1 Taylor Hicks
    2 Katharine McPhee
    3 Kellie Pickler
    4 Chris Daughtry
    5 Ace Young
    6 Bucky Covington
    7 Paris Bennett
    8 Elliott Yamin
    9 Mandisa

According to the site, Elliott and Mandisa are in danger of being voted off, this does not include text votes. It's a statistics program for voting based on number of attempts and busy signals/completed votes. It's generally pretty accurate, although the last few weeks, the person in the 4th to last spot went, so I'd say Bucky's in trouble too.
