We ti-vo'd the show but haven't watched it. I read on-line today that Lauren was having vocal chord problems and they thought she might not be able to sing, but pulled it out at the last minute, and sounded "almost perfect" - ? Sometimes I think the producers make this shit up to increase the "drama OMG it's so exciting what will happen?????"

I suppose I should watch the episode before making such an opinion, but I seriously wonder that sometimes.

If Simon was still there, these 2 would not be in the final - he HATED country music and made a point to say that whenever anybody sang a country song

Lauren did have vocal chord trouble. They had the doc on the show, said she 'sprained' her vocal chord. they gave her meds and it worked out fine.

you could tell at certain times she was having a tiny problem though

I don't know if it was my tv or my satellite or my dvr or my ears, but when Lauren sang her first song, it sounded like they were manipulating her microphone or the mixing or something. I'm ignorant about this stuff, so I'm not explaining it right but the volume of her voice seemed to go down when she had to push her voice. I do like Lauren a lot, & have from the beginning but I also think that AI does what it can to get certain people ahead.

And Lauren's song was so much better than Scotty's, IMO. Either way, they'll both be fine.

I feel like I am breaking some woman code here, but is T-Boz (TLC) pregnant?

Scotty and Tim McGraw just came on and man, Scotty is good.

This is awesome. I've only gotten through James, Jacob and Casey's songs and MAN this is the most random and yet awesome assortment of song choices and duets. Especially the order. I won't spoil it for anyone but will just say AWESOME.

James was adorable. I loved it when he talked about Chris Daughtry (my man) also making it to #4 and they showed the pictures.

Lauren & Scotty look like they really care about each other. Not saying romantically, although that would be terribly cute but they both just seem like really good kids. They'll both do very very well.

It was a terrific year and I didn't miss Simon at all, even though I thought I would. Scotty and Lauren are both going on to big things in the C&W world.

So true, I dont think Scott would've won if Simon was still there.

It was good to see a country singer win AI for once by sticking to their roots. Carrie is a CW singer but on the show she didn't always sing country songs.

Yeah, I have to say I'm THRILLED that not one but two country artists made it to the end and that they were both unabashedly country. All in all, even though I was bored for a few weeks while Jacob, etc were still in, I enjoyed the finale more than I have in a long time.

And whoever thought to follow Judas Priest with gospel singers, and then follow that with Fat Bottomed Girls and Jack freaking Black is a genius.

ETA: Forgot to mention that I'm kind of ashamed to say how much I liked Marc Anthony/Sheila E's performance. WOW! I don't think I've ever actually seen him perform before; just seen him looking like skeletor about to eat JLo's head.
