The Killing' Season 3 Officially Coming Back To AMC

The Huffington Post | By Chris Harnick Posted: 01/15/2013 4:31 pm EST

It's official! "The Killing" is coming back to AMC for Season 3.
"'The Killing' from day one has been a truly original take on the crime drama. Veena Sud and the rest of the talented creative team are hard at work shaping the lives of Linden and Holder, portrayed by the terrific Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman," said Charlie Collier, AMC's president, said in a statement. "We're so pleased to welcome back 'The Killing' for another season."
When "The Killing" premiered on AMC in April 2011, 2.7 million viewers tuned in to see the start of the "Who killed Rosie Larsen?" mystery. However, during Season 1, the numbers began to slip and when finale failed to reveal who killed Rosie, viewers fled the series in Season 2. The second season kicked off with 1.8 million viewers and the finale dropped to 1.5 million. The show was canceled ... until now.
“I couldn’t be happier to know that I will be returning to work with AMC, FTVS and Mireille and Joel on what is and has always been a passion project for me. To the fans that have supported the series, thank you for doing so. My team and I will work hard to deliver the best story that we can for season three,” showrunner Veena Sud said in a statement.
"The Killing" Season 3 takes place a year after Sarah Linden (Enos) closed the Rosie Larsen case and finds Linden no longer a detective. However, when her ex-partner Stephen Holder's (Kinnaman) search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she left behind.
Season 3 of "The Killing" will be 12 episodes and begin production in February.

I was just thinking about this show yesterday. I'm so excited it will be back! I didn't think it would get un-canceled from AMC.

Season 2 still hasn't come out on Netflix or on Demand, so I'm going to be SO behind!

Woohoo! I'm so excited, I really hope the writers do a great job in Season 3, how unusual to get a reprieve like that.

^I know, I never thought they'd get taken back to AMC. I thought maybe it would be on Netflix, but I hadn't heard anything about it.

Novice, the sweater was such a big deal that I read an entire article about it.

There's even an entire website about it? Who knew?

Is this show as similar to Twin Peaks as it sounds like it is?

I never really got around to watching Twin Peaks for some reason. I think it's similar, but The Killing is way drearier.

Only the atmosphere. Somewhat. But there isn't any high weirdness or strange narrative quirks.

Oh and: Wooo hooo! It's back!

I adored Twin Peaks, so I might get into it, but when I started reading about a dead teenage girl in the Pacific Northwest whose past comes out afterwards and might include a brothel - I thought I'd seen this show before.

The show is very dreary and not at all quirky. There is some creep and ick factors, but it's much more straight forward than Twin Peaks. Its a great show, give it a try.

It's back this Sunday. Looks like they've learned their lesson and have 1.) cleaned up Holder. He looks hot!! 2.) Realized that they must solve the mystery by the end of the season

    I'm so excited.
