I hear that. When I was growing up, I lived near one of the largest independently owned video stores in the west. It was sold to Hollywood video in the early 90s, but Hollywood Video kept all of their videos. Without it, I wouldn't have discovered Italian horror films or 60s Hammer films or any of the other more obscure titles you'd never see on cable. I contend that video store was one of the reason's I now work with film.

I miss those too, we used to go rent all the worst B horror flicks and the video guys (who were total redneck nasty eww) were always sooo freaked about the little ladies who liked that weird stuff.

Maybe Blockbuster needs to stock some porn to pick up business.

Probably not a bad idea. Before the chains ran them out of business a lot of the small stores used to have soft porn in a separate room.

I boycotted Blockbuster years ago. They had 5 day rentals, but when you broke it down, most times I ended up only having the movie something like 3 days. I'd rent at 8 or 9, and then it had to be back by noon on the 5th day, and I always ended up taking it back the night before or on my way to work the morning of. Not really their fault so much as my schedule, but I got in a hissy over it one day and just cut them off. It was easier than rearranging my schedule to get the full benefit of the 5 days. LOL!

We boycotted them when they put a smaller chain out of business. Carbonated Video, where you could buy "prepaids" 10 rentals for $20, and call during the day on Friday and they would put whatever you wanted on hold for pickup after work. Blockbuster rentals cost almost $5 per in my area, that's bullshit. We signed up for Netflix pretty much from the beginning. If only we had bought Netflix stock too.

The one downside is they don't always have what I want to see. Then I go to itunes.

I think one day all movies will be available for home viewing right away. Theaters are going the way of the dinosaur too. It's so expensive to go to the movies, if it's not something fantastic, I just wait til it's out in DVD.
You are not alone! I do the same thing and I've had no problems with them!
