    Default Kings on NBC

I didn't plan to get sucked into this, but it was one of those shows that premiered tonight, and I couldn't turn away from the TV. It was so good. Completely riveting. Its based on the story of David & Goliath, but in modern times. It winds up seeming like The West Wing combined with a bit of war drama.

    Here's a video preview:

I read some positive reviews so I recorded it. Eesh. I did not like it at all.

Overwrought, overacted and predictable complete with annoying "weeeohhhwahhhhhhh" soundtrack.

It tries way to hard to manipulate the viewers feelings. There's a lot of emoting which just makes me want to crack wise cuz I'm a sarcastic bitch like that.

I mean a soldier named David faces down a fleet of tanks with GOLIATH written in bold letters across the front and ends up with a crown of monarch (of course!) butterflies around his head? Seriously?

Oh and the kid looks like Ryan Phillipe and I spent most of the show trying to figure out if he had a zit or a small wart below his lower lip.

Yeah, the crown of butterflies was completely cheesy and hilarious.

Yes it is - it's on at 10pm on Saturdays. NBC moved the day and timeslot.

So sad that it's not doing well in the ratings. I love the show. BTW they filmed 13 episodes so at least we will get to see those.

IMO the producers should have gone to HBO with this. It may have survived on cable. The show has an interesting premise. Shame we won't get to see more of it.

Sebastian Stan (Prince Jack) is the main reason i watch...i love his character and his acting is great. Him and Ian McShane.

    ^Thanks for the update.
Too bad the network won't give it a chance, because it sounds like a really good show. That's why I rarely give shows a chance when it's in the first season, because chances are the show won't make it, then I'll be left hanging.
