The Book of Daniel
This was the show that the christian right wing got cancelled in parts of Indiana and Arkansas. I watched it last night and it is a really good show. I really hope it sticks around. Its very well written and might I add that Jesus is the funniest character on the show

Re: The Book of Daniel
I watched it, too, and I really enjoyed it. It kinda of reminded me of a cross between Desperate Housewives and 7th Heaven. It had some really funny moments. I never thought I'd be saying this, but I love Jesus! He's very funny on the show, and he has some geniunely sweet moments with the priest. It's not a great show, but likeable enough.
It's completely ridiculous that they would protest or ban this show... they obviously didn't screen it, because there's hardly anything offensive in it at all. In fact, it has a fairly positive tone. The priest (episcopalian) is addicted to something like vicodin, and he has a gay son, his other two kids smoke weed, his mom has alzheimer's, his dad's an asshole bishop, he's trying to fund good works and may have to get help from the mafia, and so on. The show is gay-positive, and the preist doesn't beat or disown his children when they act up. I guess that's the problem?

I never knew that Houston was that strick. Is TExas a bible belt state? Don't worry the show will become a hit and they will be forced to show it everywhere

Re: The Book of Daniel
They decided to air Book of Daniel in my area (in a blood red state), but they had set up a call center at the tv station to field all the complaints they were sure would come pouring in. During the 10 o'clock news, they cut to the call center and it was dead silence. Apparently, people weren't horrifically offended like the tv station expected.

From what I understand about Texas besides being the "home state" of Bush there are alot of Baptists. They have the annual Baptist Convention in Dallas every year at least that is what I have been told. In the town I live in outside of Houston, we have so many baptist churches in a small area it is amazing. I can go literally 4 blocks and there is a baptist church on each block. Has Pat Robertson made a comment about this show yet?

From what I've seen and heard of right-wing nutjobs, they're homphobic inbred assterds that go against anything that's gay-positive, satrical, or basically anything thing that has an open-minded view. THey don't like the fact that a show can show problems ad imprefections in a "relgious" family so they have to bitch and protest that their "beleifs" are perfect and moral, when they're quite opposite.
Aye relgious nut-jobs never fail to make me get pissed off...and laugh.

Re: The Book of Daniel
I guess the banned it in Nashville now.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NBC's Nashville affiliate has closed "The Book of Daniel" after the show, whose main character is a pill-popping Episcopal priest with a gay son and a pot-dealing daughter, drew thousands of complaints.

WSMV-TV General Manager Elden Hale Jr. said he decided to pull the show starring
Aidan Quinn after NBC rejected the station's request to air it overnight instead of during "family viewing time."
Despite its third-place finish nationally, the show won its time slot last Friday in the Nashville TV market.
Hale said viewers objected to the language, the sexual content and the portrayal of Jesus, who appears to Quinn's character for regular chats.
WSMV's general voice mailbox shut down within 20 hours of the airing of the two-hour premiere last Friday because 137 complaint messages jammed the machine, WSMV officials said. There also were complaints via e-mail and regular mail, including letters bearing church letterheads.
"Over the years, other shows have generated as much or more reaction, but this wasn't a cut-and-paste reaction where a national group says, 'Please send an e-mail to your station' and every e-mail is the same," Hale said. "These were individually crafted, considered, well-thought, well-reasoned e-mails and phone calls."
NBC defended the show Thursday, issuing this statement: "The Book of Daniel is a quality fictional drama about an Episcopalian priest's family and the contemporary issues with which they must grapple. We're confident that our viewers can appreciate this creative depiction of one American family and will understand it to be an entertaining work of fiction."
WSMV is one of seven NBC affiliates, most of them in the South, that have decided not to air "The Book of Daniel." In three of those markets — Little Rock, Ark., Amarillo, Tex., and Terre Haute, Ind. — non-NBC stations have agreed to air the show. It isn't clear if NBC is shopping it to another Nashville station.

Re: The Book of Daniel
I started watching it last night because I like Aiden Quinn but was a bit lost since I missed the first night and the acting was awful. It just didn't capture my interest.
I think it's pathetic how some places block out shows. They are keeping people ignorant and insulated.
