'Get Smart' gets audience with $39.2M debut

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Audiences still get Maxwell Smart. Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway's "Get Smart," the Warner Bros. big screen update of the 1960s spy sitcom, raked in $39.2 million to debut as the No. 1 weekend movie, according to studio estimates Sunday.

But movie-goers did not get Mike Myers' "The Love Guru," the weekend's other new wide release. The Paramount Pictures comedy about a self-help mentor took in just $14 million to open at No. 4.

I personally won't be seeing either movie, but am very glad to read this. Fucking hate MM anymore. Maybe this will take him down a peg or two?? Doubtful.

I always hated MM since his Dana Carvey years when he bitched how, Dana was not that inportant in Waynes World, heck without Dana wayne´ s World would have been pointless and most probably a flop. (just like his Sprokets skits)

Me and the kid went to see Get Smart, and let me tell you, it was great! Just what a summer popcorn flick is supposed to be, funny and entertaining, and I got my Rock fix too!
