For some reason, I got very nostalgic last night and thought of this show, which is why I started the thread.
The 4 stars of the show are getting way up there in age, and I know Estelle Getty isn't doing well at all....and it got me thinking how sad it would be when they die.
I love them all!
A show that truly deserves every compliment!

For a bunch of women who were old in 1985, you've really got to give them credit for lasting this long. I thought they'd be about 100 by now but they're only in their 80s... Jeez! My mum's nearly 60, which must have been the age that they were when the show started. And my mum looks like she's 45.

Love Golden Girls. My mom used to let me stay up late on Sunday nights to catch reruns. My favorite by far was Sofia, she made jokes at everyone's expense. I think I read somewhere that Lifetime will not be airing anymore episodes starting in the summer. I think they said it might move to the Oxygen channel.

I love it too. Sophia is my favorite, I love her don't give a shit attitude.
Just a useless fact, but Sophia (Estelle Getty) was actually younger than Dorothy (Beatrice Arthur). Sophia was born on July 25, 1923 and Dorothy on May 13, 1922. I found it interesting. haha

^ I watched it because I loved Golden Girls, but I could never really get into it. For me, Sophia and Dorothy made the show what it was.

Hard to narrow down a favorite character for me personally, they were all so likeable in different ways.
I watch this show every chance I get!!!

My favorite is when Sophia has a nurse caring for her (can't remember why, haven't seen it in years) and Sophia, who is annoyed with Dorothy for some reason, starts referring to the nurse as "Pussycat." She then calls Dorothy "Pussycat" in front of the nurse who says, "Oh, you're 'Pussycat' too?" Dorothy turns around and says "I'm 'Pussycat I', YOU are 'Pussycat II'!"
Brilliant!

One of my favorite Dorothy moments is the episode where they bury Frida Claxton, the neighbor everybody hates. The guy at the funeral home goes on and on about the coffin, and she slams it and says"We're not burying Superman, how much?!"..

One of my faves is when Blanche has a crush on an actor who turns out to be a playboy. All three ladies try out for a play he's in, and Blanche put little balloons under her red blouse to look bigger. The guy accidentally calls her "Busty," and when she embraces him, her balloons deflate in front of everyone.
