All in the Family
I usually don't watch older shows,... But this is one of the funniest shows I think I've seen. I think Archie's character is brilliant, even if he is a bigoted idiot. I love Edith, too. I haven't watched the show in a while, but I'm planning on starting back up again, watching it whenever it's on.

Nicole, that's awesome you have found this wonderful classic show. That show was groundbreaking when it came out. I remember watching it as a child, and the things that were said on there are so politically incorrect by today's standards. It's such a classic show. And really, the racial comments he made weren't really out of hate, it was out of ignorance. That generation just kind of talked like that. My dad almost reminded me of Archie, and my mom was so much like Edith. That's how that generation was, THIS show was just the first one on TV that actually showed what would go on in lots of homes back then. Kicking Brady Bunch and the likes of them to the curb for their fakeness. Norman Lear, the creator of All in the Family, is a genius. He also created Maude (which showcased the women's movement) and the Jeffersons (success of black America). Awesome. If you are really curious Nicole, I believe there are season DVDs out there for sale. The first few seasons were the best.

It is a very funny show, but kind of dated. Ironically, Carroll O'Connor was a big-time Hollywood liberal in real life.
When the show first came out, the people who complained about it were liberals who thought that they didn't make O'Connor dislikeable enough.
Also, I think it was based on a British show, but I don't remember the name of it.
I loved Archie's malapropisms. And when he would get into arguments with George Jefferson (before that show was spun off).

It was based on the British shoe till death do us part.....but just based on, it was different.
This was a great show, and I always think when I see it that it could never get on TV now....
It's was excellent TV, from an era where such a thing existed.

My grandparents LOVE this show. They recently got the DVD boxed set, which was a big deal for them as they've had the DVD player for about 5 years now and it's the first time they've actually felt compelled to purchase a DVD.

I love this show too. While my dad has come a long way, he use to remind me so much of Archie. Even some of the facial expressions and mannerisms are the same.
It was brilliant comedy. It showcased inaccuracies and ignorance without degrading the main character or making him unlikable.

I HATE Edith's voice, especially when she tries to sing.

ITA! Archie was an ignorant fool who was still so lovable, and deep down, he did have a kind heart.

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played.
Songs that made the Hit Parade.
Guys like us, we had it made.
Those were the days.
And you knew who you were then.
Girls were girls and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
Didn't need no welfare state.
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days.
