    Default Rumor Has It...

I saw it last night and I would suggest waiting for video on this one. It's pretty slow starting but at least I really liked the last half hour. Mark Ruffalo is my new crush, he's such a hottie!! Oh, and this confirms it, Jen Aniston is NOT a good actress. I used to like her on Friends, but she just couldn't pull off an easy charecter with this movie. I know, shocker for all her die hard fans on this board.

Oh yeah, it actually plays a lot of good songs during the movie too. That was a bonus.

I'm just glad I saw The Good Girl. That proved JA can act. All this other romantic comedy stuff she's been doing is so *yawn*. But, then again, I'm biased and consider romantic comedies nothing but mindless fluff. Entertaining? Sure, sometimes. But fluff nonetheless.

^^ I like the Ben Stiller romantic comedies: very silly! I tend to like mine more silly than sweet or romantic. That's why I never saw Kate & Leopold, that Meg Ryan/Hugh Jackman movie. And I vow never to see My Best Friend's Wedding ever again, cuz there ain't nothing funny or entertaining about love lost!

I agree about my Best Friend's Wedding! HORRIBLE ending. I feel the same way about Dawson's Creek.

I will probably end up seeing Rumor Has It with my mom or something. I think it looks entertaining.

Yes, MonkeyMix, When Harry Met Sally is the standard! All romantic comedies should aspire to WMHS: great script, good actors, etc. etc.

Rumor Has It that Chiniston has Struck Out Again

    from A Socialite's Life:

Jennifer Aniston Gives Us Another Bomb
Filed under: Film , Jennifer Aniston

"A Wreck" reads the headline above the review in the Hollywood Reporter. Variety opens its critique by labeling the comedy-drama "as muddled in most respects as its title." Both papers predict poor ticket sales.

In the movie, directed by Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally) and based loosely on the events that occurred in the 1962 Charles Webb novel and 1967 Michael Nichols movie The Graduate, Aniston plays an obituary writer for The New York Times who goes home to Southern California for her sister's wedding and discovers for the first time that her granny, played by Shirley MacLaine, may have been the inspiration for the notorious "older woman" Mrs. Robinson, who seduced Benjamin Braddock, the then-recent college grad.

Her face looks just like Sean Penn in this photo. Especially from his "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" days. Weird.

I just saw a "coming attractions" for this movie. I was stunned, as was the rest of the audience. The theme was quite clear and ICKY!!!
I felt total embarrassment for Aniston and rest of cast.

Not surprised this bombed, it has Anniston in it.heh

I just don't understand these chick flicks, I mean there all the same (woman needs love, goes find man, they date, fall in love, something gets in the way of their love, resloved it and fall in love again, kiss ,the end ) and it's like all these romantic comedies blend in with each other. Stop it hollywood and make movies with shit blowing up!

I liked Just Like Heaven, and liked JA in Bruce Almighty. Then again, I'm a Jim Carrey fan since In Living Color.

That's precisely why I love My Best Friend's Wedding. It isn't the typical chick flick. You walk into it expecting her to win back the guy and then they'll live happily ever after, and I loved that it didn't work out the way you completely expected it to. Besides, I'm a sucker for Julia Roberts in the romantic comedy roles (I absolutely love Pretty Woman).

Dude, that's fucking real life. I don't need to pay $10.50 to see real life. That's why there was nothing romantic nor comedic about MBFW, and the whole point of romantic comedies is to make us feel good at the end.

And, regarding Rumor Has It: I saw in a commercial that Ebert & Roeper give it two thumbs up. For real?? Now I just don't know what to believe: is it a flop or is it just schmaltz???

This one looks boring as hell. From the commercials, it seems the premise is some old disrespectful jerk going on about sleeping with a mother and grandmother and the girl can't stand him. Lemme guess-- they fall in love at the end? It's ok if I'm wrong. I don't care either way.

Basically the premise is supposed to be that The Graduate story is based on her family. So, her grandmother is the Mrs. Robinson character.
