Default Beowulf - anyone see it?

OK so my friend went to see this and told me that it was just horrible, that the CGI was almost laughable and at times it looked like Shrek. She said it could appeal to a younger audience, but she hated it. I saw it took the top box office spot but thats kind of misleading, it only took in 27.5 million, which is well below what it was expecting, and since the movie cost $160 million to make, it will have to do REALLY well overseas to be able to get back what it cost to make. But my question is this, did anyone else see it? Because I only know two friends, and both of them disliked it, the one with a passion. Its funny, because its number one at the box office, but some critics are calling it a flop.

I saw it Saturday night. And, yes, it sucks. It's really silly.

Looks terrible. I think they were trying to ride on 300's Coattails and got everything wrong. (plus, its not easy to ride on the coattails of a cult film, especially when you don't use ANY staple cult actors)

Oh bugger, I really thought that given it was the guy behind Contact that it would be good.

It wasn't very good. I couldn't believe that they put high heels on Grendel's mother (Angelina's character). I did like Grendel. That crazy actor Crispen Glover plays him. Well cast with that part.

My parents saw it and said it was so confusing. Sad, since both of them read the book of it.

Beowulf was my favorite Epic in high school. I was really looking forward to this becoming a motion picture...but when I saw the first trailer, I got a little vomit in my throat...They screwed this up! HOW?
