Tim Burton to make 3-D "Alice in Wonderland"

Tim Burton has signed a deal with the Walt Disney Co. to direct and produce 3-D movies based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and his own short film "Frankenweenie."

The "Alice" adaptation, combining live-action and performance-capture technology, will start shooting in early 2008.

Burton will then start work on a full-length version of his 1984 cult favorite "Frankenweenie," about a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner in a very unusual way. The film will be shot in stop-motion animation.

Burton is putting the finishing touches on the Johnny Depp musical "Sweeney Todd," which DreamWorks/Paramount will release domestically next month.

Planet of the Apes and the Corpse Bride look the same?

Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands look the same?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Batman look the same?

He definitely has a style and pioneered a genre but they do not all look the same.

/Not saying he can do no wrong...Planet of the Apes was horrid, but I can't let a comment like that one go

Planet of the Apes was an exception. But Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Returns (was that the name of the 2nd one??), Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, yes they look the same. Lots of black and white costumes (esp. b&w stripes) and scenery, with bright neon colors to contrast. The characters act and dress "wacky", you'll often see major characters with pale, pale skin and dark, dark hair. Lots of gizmos and gadgets and Rube Goldberg shit. I didn't see Big Fish, but from the promos, it had the same hypercolor going on.

Alice in Wonderland is freakish in either book of film form. Wasn't the author, Lewis Carroll, a pedophile?
