Sweeney Todd
OK, I am the biggest broadway nerd (as if my name didn't give it away). I am so freaking excited for this movie. The trailer got released today. It looks awesome, but I am not impressed by the clip of Johnny singing. I was hoping he would pull through and that Sondheim would never let them cast someone that couldn't carry the part. Guess star power won over skill.

I want to see this but cannot stand Helena Bonham Carter. I find her simply unbearable.

You make a good point. I will slobber and drool all over the AR scenes then cover my ears yelling "LALALALALALALALA" during HBC's scenes.

I love HBC. I think she's nuts but I also think she's a great actress.

HBC's crazy as hell, but awesome. Wait til all the premiere's start gearing up. She's going to be seriously pregnant by that point, we're in for some interesting clothes at the very least.

I love Johnny Depp too but from that trailer, his singing leaves something to be desired.
And must Burton have the makeup so overdone? I know he leans towards the caricature-ish side, but must the complexions really be that gray and pallid? I mean it's a movie, not the theater and Johnny isn't Edward Scissorhands anymore.
But, erm, yeah I still wanna go see it

Will definitely see this. My dad took me to see a local production when I was a kid, and I thought it was wicked.

A 2nd Sweeney Todd trailer is out. This one completely hides the fact that it's a musical. There are going to be some very surprised people out there when they go to see a Tim Burton movie and find out they were duped into seeing a Sondheim show.

Follow up to SJ's info about the Tim Burton night since it was last night (and xpost with the latest thread in gossip):
They previewed a couple songs at the event and crazy fans never disappoint. Someone got the audio from one of them, song's called Johanna.
I am no longer that concerned about Johnny Depp pulling it off. He sounds pretty decent, I want the full soundtrack to be released soon though. I want to hear more.
I think you'll be able to tell who he is (2nd voice is JD). Also, lol to the laughing during the song-he's slashing throats there in the play.
