Pushing Daisies
WWWWOOOOOWWWWW, saw the pilot tonight even though it hasn't aired on US TV yet, and just blown away by it. Exceptional. Fast, but you get used to it and that allows for more storyline.
I don't say it's like Dead Like Me. Don't see it personally. I thought it was more like Edward Scissorhands.
Just finished watching it and loved it, although is it a widescreen show because the one I got wasn't. But it was great anyway.
I loved everything about it, it's original and clever and darkly humorous, with a nice little mystery... I cannot wait for the next episode in a few months. I think this is going to be the big jackpot for this season. Better than any episode of Desperate Housewives- ever. Or Lost. Or anything recently.
Not sure about the casting of the main guy Ned, but he's slowly warming to me.
I love Charlotte, is it just me or is she the spitting image of Hilarie Burton from One Tree Hill? Either her or Zooey Deschanel in some shots.
Swoozey Kurtz storyline and big twist with the eyepatch was just what made this thing wrap up terrificly- it was like an amazingly quirky short film by Tim Burton- I guess they were going for that.
I can see the quirkiness and narration wearing after a while, but this show has such amazing potential. I just hope it doesn't flounder like every show does these days after the first season.
But as far as pilots go, you cannot get any better than that. Emmy-nods I smell, if the ratings are good.

Grown up Ned (Lee Pace) puts his talent to good use by touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor. He opens a pie shop. But his gift leaves him wary of becoming close to anyone, as beautiful waitress Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth) finds out. His life as a pie maker gets more complicated when private investigator Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) finds out about Ned's secret. Emerson convinces the cash-strapped Ned to help him solve murder cases (and collect the hefty reward fees) by raising the dead and getting them to name their killers.
Then Ned is handed the case that changes his life forever. His childhood sweetheart, Charlotte "Chuck" Charles (Anna Friel), is murdered on a cruise ship under strange circumstances. Her death brings him back to his hometown of Coeur d' Coeurs to bring Chuck back to life, albeit briefly, and solve the crime. But once reunited with Chuck, Ned can't bring himself to send her back. He helps her escape after her grieving aunts, Lily and Vivian (Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene), former synchronized swimmers Darling Mermaid Darlings, think they've buried her forever.
Chuck becomes the third partner in Ned and Emerson's PI enterprise, but she encourages them to use their skills for good, not just for profit. Ned is overjoyed to be reunited with Chuck, the only girl he's ever loved. Life would be perfect, except for one cruel twist -- if he ever touches her again, she'll go back to being dead, this time for good.

I enjoyed it. It isn't like anything else out there, that's for sure.

I will watch anything with Kristin Chenoweth in it. She's hugely talented, and seems really likable IRL too.

I watched, and so far, so good. I missed the first 5 minutes, so I apparently missed a little background, but not too much. Kristin Chenoweth is not in the pilot very much, Mira - really, it's probably less than a minute and a half.
