Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Anyone else see it? What'd you think?
I know that this and all of the coming movies are based on enormously long books, and so there are some things that will be sacrificed with that. I was still disappointed with some storylines they left by the wayside. Particularly the one about Rita Skeeter, they started to introduce it, but dropped it about halfway through. Overall I really liked it though. It was a good movie and didn't feel like the 2.5 hours.
Added after an IMDB search: I KNEW that was Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, I freaking LOVE him. I kept trying to figure it out during the movie! Sometimes IMDB is my best friend

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I really liked it. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually really disliked the 3rd one, but I thought this one was really well done. I still miss the original Dumbeldore. This guy is too mean for me. I think Dumbeldore is more nice and calm. Oh well! Lol.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I liked it a lot, but it's not my favorite one (I like the third one the best. Plus, there wasn't enough Snape, although he cracked me up the few times he was shown).
My husband hated it. He thought too much of the book was left out. I disagree. The book was nearly 750 pages, if I remember correctly. It had to have been hard to condense that!
The part I didn't like was Rita Skeeter. She definitely has a role in the book, but because of the condensed nature of the movie, I don't think she was necessary.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Oh yeah, that was another thing. Doesn't the director have background in chickflick type movies? Because you could see the influence in some of the funnier throwaway lines and stuff. That's not a bad thing, I liked it.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Ralph Fiennes did a great job as Voldemort, i never would have thought him for the role of The Dark Lord. I enjoyed the 4th movie more then the 3rd. Which was a diappointment since the 3rd book was my favourite.

I really enjoyed this one. Can't wait to buy it & watch it over & over.
I liked #3 more than I expected, considering it was my least favourite book. Go figure.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I ended up seeing this last night. We were going to see Zathura, but while we were waiting for it to start, popped into the Potter movie. My daughter had already seen it, but she was perfectly happy seeing it again, so we ended up staying.
I thought it was really well made. Yes, there was a lot cut, but the story was still there, the effects were still there.
Maybe this is shallow, but I hope nothing happens to me before I get to read the last one of this series, and the last of Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series.

It's out here on 1 December. I've seen the trailers and it looks fantastic.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Loved it. Don't read the books so I can't get disappointed by the editing. I agree, though, not enough Snape! I figured out it was Ralph Fiennes as soon as the camera got up close; I had to remind my BF he was Dolarhyde in Red Dragon. The third one was saved by Gary Oldman for me.

it's not out here until the 30th, so i'll have to wait and see. i was also really disappointed in the third movie... it's my favourite of the books, and i just love cuarón as a director, so i guess i was expecting so much more. but to be honest, i haven't really liked any of the potter movies so far. i think they've been too 'nice' whereas the books have a darker side to them - which i love, because it seems that nowadays kids' books and movies are so clean and watered down to the point of being stupid. i'm hoping this one will be much better, but it's mike newell (mona lisa smile ) so i'm not holding my breath... i really hope i'm wrong though.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
it was okay. i had to sit thru all 4 films with my little brothers, and overall I am unimpressed. I still do not know what the fuss is all about.
